Today is the 50th anniversary of this iconic Garth Hope photograph, which shows Monton skipper Tony Elwood bowling against Warrington New Town at Quaker Bridge, on 4th September 1976. The non-striking batsman is Tony Almond & the fielder at mid-on Andy Allman.
A good turnout for @MontonCC’s former players get-together yesterday & a cracking match with @CliftonCC that went down to the final over.
We are saddened to hear of the death of @Flixton_C_S_C stalwart Ray Millward (seen here front row, third from right). A one club man who represented everything that was good about club cricket & served his own club in just about every capacity. RIP Ray.

Much saddened by news of the death of Alan (Lord) Haselhurst, a visionary chairman of @MontonSports Club in the mid 1970s, who was instrumental in the redevelopment of the clubhouse to include squash courts, new changing rooms & a groundsman’s flat in 1976. RIP Alan.
Saddened to hear of the death of Lord Haselhurst, a committed parliamentarian over many decades who served on several committees @UKHouseofLords. My thoughts are with Lady Haselhurst and family and friends at this time.

Monton CC is hosting a former players day on Saturday 22 August & hopes to get as many past players as possible to come along. The event is not restricted to ex Monton players, with Monton&Weaste old boys especially welcome. It would be great to see other ex-@MDCAssn players too.
