I can't remember the last time I renamed variables manually in #rstats. I always use my data dictionary for renaming! That way, if I ever need to update names in the future, I'm only updating once in my data dictionary, not in both my data dictionary and script. 🙌

#RStats people, we gotta reign in these package names. It’s difficult enough to explain to a 70+ y/o government IT employee why I need to install a benign R package, it’s harder when the name of that package is {juicyjuice} 🤦‍♂️

I have added this opinion that power analysis is meaningless to my quick checks if someone lacks expertise in statistics (another quick check is not knowing how p-values are distributed under the null). We power for the smallest effect we care about online.ucpress.edu/collabra/…
Prospective power analysis is hilarious because your replace an arbitrary guess of sample size with an arbitrary guess of the effect size you’ve yet to measure, do a touch of arithmetic, and suddenly it’s considered rigorous

I would love to organize a symposium for #SRCD25 ! I’m thinking it will be focused on diverse language experiences + cognitive development, broadly speaking. This can include bilingual environments (sign and spoken). Anyone interested let me know 🤩
The Call for Submissions for #SRCD25 is now open! The SRCD 2025 Biennial Meeting will be held on May 1-3,2025, in person in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

It took a few *years* for this to get written and accepted … but it’s a great paper and you should read and recommend it!
