The Western Mediterranean needs rules that work for both the sea and the people who depend on it.
Good exchange today in Strasbourg with French Producers Organisation @OPduSud and MEPs @EricSargiacomo and Claire Fita on the future of the WestMed MAP.
Our compass: strong science, healthier stocks, more selective fishing — and a framework that gives Mediterranean fishers a viable future.
Sustainability and economic resilience must go hand in hand.
#GFCMCompliance mechanisms are essential for sustainable fisheries
At #GFCM_CoC members will discuss outcomes of the new compliance assessment mechanism, providing a granular picture of implementation& a structured process to agree on follow-up actions to address non-compliance.

With MEP Giuseppe Lupo, fishers, workers and local authorities, we discussed how to turn sustainability into opportunity — for fisheries, aquaculture and the wider blue economy. ♻️
Healthy seas. Competitive businesses. Good jobs. Young people with a future on our coasts.
This is the Mediterranean blue economy we are working for.
