“Do NOT assume they are really with you on #GunReform. Make them commit to it, put their name on it, bring it to the floor. I’m not dumb. It isn’t complicated. Don’t let anyone tell you that they can’t.” @AGOWA

Owning a gun is legal in this country; open carrying is legal in Virginia Activists aren’t debating what is/isn’t legal. We are saying that people should not be DYING by preventable means, that there need to be more regulations, that there is a PROBLEM that needs to be fixed.

In KING COUNTY: At least 16 people were shot and killed by police in the last two years. Nationally, an unarmed black teenager holding a puppy is shot, but white men with assault weapons march freely on CAPITOL GROUNDS. This is white supremacy at its finest.
17 y/o Trayvon Martin was shot on his way to get some skittles. Yet there are thousands of white men able to march around openly caring assault weapons on Capitol grounds. This is not about self-defense it’s about the enforcement of white supremacy.

232 days. 100 people killed from gun violence during each of them. Exactly what @speakerpelosi said. We are not going away until we get the senate to pass legislation reducing gun violence.

MASS SHOOTINGS ARE NOT AND HAVE NEVER BEEN THE ONLY FORM OF GUN VIOLENCE Say it out loud. Say it out loud. Say it out loud. Mass shootings being referred to as the only type of gun violence is about ignoring and devaluing the experiences of people of color in the US

GIVE US BACK OUR CHILDHOODS. And make sure that we NEVER, EVER have to experience this pain, this loss, this #America ever again
I was in high school when Columbine happened. Years have passed, yet the only thing Washington politicians do consistently is fail to deliver. We owe it to our children to give them back their childhoods. We can’t wait. We need leaders ready to act. #DemDebate

#ThisIsOurLane and it is littered with bodies. And broken hearts that can never be healed. And wounds that can’t even begin to be covered by band-aids. And birthdays perpetually uncelebrated. Families forever broken. We may have the privilege to forget, but they DON’T

#ThisIsOurLane and it is flooded with blood
Last week a few us (Trauma Surgeons) sat down with @BetoORourke to discuss #GunViolence in America. Glad that our candidates are discussing this issue as central part of campaign. #DemDebate
We are tired and we are weary, but we KEEP. FIGHTING. Gun violence doesn’t sleep. It doesn’t rest. So we keep fighting because we are fighting for our LIVES
“We have to be the ones to continue this fight and I know that there are times when we are tired and we are weary but we are people of good strength.” Still feeling inspired by this weekend's United We Stand event and grateful to all those who joined. komonews.com/news/local/acti…

46 women will fatally shot by their partner this month. Many more lives will be lost by the 54% of mass shootings committed by domestic abusers. Domestic violence and gun violence go hand in hand, and they are both a public safety epidemic. #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth

INCLUDE NATIVE PEOPLE IN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT GUN VIOLENCE. INCLUDE NATIVE PEOPLE IN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THEIR COMMUNITIES. #WhiteSaviorism is how we got here. It will not save ANYONE.
Native communities face some of the highest rates of suicide by guns and fatal police encounters. We must focus our gun violence prevention efforts on the communities that need it and amplify their voices. Check out the article below for more info ⬇️ teenvogue.com/story/gun-viol…

“It’s not just about mass shootings, it’s what happens in neighborhoods all across this country.” - @EWarren Every day, 100 Americans are shot and killed. We don’t have to live like this: it’s time to pass common-sense gun safety legislation. #DemDebate
