At some point, baseball has to get back to valuing ballplayers and not just numbers on a screen. Give me the Freddie Freemans, the Buster Poseys, Hunter Pences, Pablo Sandovals, Michael Youngs, Ian Kinslers of the world. Guys who just flat out know how to play the game. Everyone wants to talk launch angle and exit velo, but what happened to valuing a quality at bat?” The 9-pitch battle that might end in an out, but forces a pitcher to show everything he’s got. The guy who hits behind the runner, takes what’s given, or just refuses to give a pitcher an easy inning. Those at-bats might not look sexy in the box score, but they show up in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. Some of these dudes could absolutely leave the yard too. That’s the point. They weren’t one-dimensional. Somewhere along the way, we confused measurable tools with knowing how to win baseball games. I’m not against analytics or hitting the ball hard, but there is an art to winning that you can’t fully measure. We need more guys who know how to play baseball, not just hitters, not just athletes, ballplayers. And I promise you, those dudes never go out of style

None of the freshmen pitching for Oklahoma or North Carolina were even in the top 200 of the Perfect Game rankings, nor were they in the MLB Pipeline draft top 250. Not regarded by scouting services, not wanted by pro teams...but they're on the verge of a championship

Mike Tyson dropped pure wisdom on JRE: “You don’t have discipline? You ain’t nobody. Nothing.” Then he hit the killer line Cus D’Amato taught him: “Discipline is doing what you hate to do, but do it like you love it.” Joe Rogan nailed the follow-up: master that and you can succeed at anything. I’ve got plenty of things I know I should do that I straight-up dread. The days I force myself to attack them with energy instead of dragging my feet? Those are the days momentum actually shows up. Talent and motivation are everywhere. Discipline is what separates the ones who actually make it from the ones who stay “almost there.” In a world full of distractions and easy dopamine, this mindset feels like a cheat code most people never unlock. What’s one thing you hate doing but know you need to do and how do you trick yourself into loving the process?

One day, without realizing it, you played your last game of baseball. Last bus ride. Last bullpen. Last time putting on the uniform. Last time hearing cleats on pavement walking into the stadium. That’s why the people who truly love this game never really leave it. We coach it. We work in it. We watch it. We reminisce about it. We miss it. Because baseball gave us pieces of ourselves we’ll spend the rest of our lives trying to hold onto. Favorite baseball memory in the comments 👇⚾️

HS Baseball Players ⚾️ YOU will go 0-3 A LOT YOU will make errors YOU will have bad outings YOU'RE going to fail ‼️ BASEBALL is a game of failure. Learn that NOW. Don't accept it, but understand it. How YOU respond to the failures will make ALL the difference 💯

If 95% of your teammates are showing growth and development, and you’re not… don’t come complain to me. You won’t like that conversation. You get what you put into the weight room every single day. You can’t hide from the process. You can’t cheat the weight room. Eventually, it will expose you!

I recorded the masterpiece that is Aaron Judge’s swing in super extreme slow motion. It’s Incredibly sound. His arms barely do anything. It’s all hip rotation and rearward snap of the barrel to accelerate it to contact. It’s beautiful.

Went to a HS game yesterday. Had a D1 coach come meet me there to watch a kid. During the game, the team’s catcher would sprint to his position every inning. He’s an underclassman, the D1 coach wasn’t there for him, he is now on that coaches radar. Some things preached at every level - ▪️sprint to your spot between innings ▪️show off your arm in between innings ▪️serious throws in the INF/OF and as a catcher You can be 0-3 and still make an impression

Mental toughness isn't "yelling." It's "flushing." I see kids all the time who think being tough means wearing eye black, screaming after a strikeout, or throwing their helmet. That’s not toughness. That’s a tantrum. True mental toughness is invisible. It’s the shortstop who boots a routine grounder in the 1st, then dives into the hole to save the game in the 9th. It’s the hitter who gets blown away by a 95mph fastball on pitch one but has the presence of mind to stay on the plane for the pitch two slider. The "3 Lefts" Mental Audit • The 5-Second Rule: You have 5 seconds to be pissed. After that the error is dead. If you’re still thinking about the 2nd inning while you’re standing in the box in the 5th you’ve already lost. • Neutral Thinking: Stop labeling things "good" or "bad." It’s just the next pitch. The scoreboard doesn't care about your feelings. • The Tuesday Standard: You don't build grit under the Friday night lights. You build it on a Tuesday when you’re tired, your hands are sore, and the coach isn't looking. The game of baseball is designed to break you. Mental toughness is the refusal to cooperate with that design. The scouts can measure your arm. They can measure your bat speed. But they can’t measure your "bounce back”until they see you fail. Don't show them your highlight reel. Show them how you handle the lowlight.

Hitting is hard! Props to great coaches that recognize & reward good AB’s, good approach, and great swings… even when the results aren’t always showing up on paper.

The best players are students of the game. They know greatness comes form being humble enough to accept coaching. • "Just be coachable." "Just take the instruction." You can't coach someone who thinks they've already arrived.

The “boring” stuff wins ballgames: -Backing up the play -Putting the ball in play -Moving the runner -Making the routine plays -Consistent communication -Throwing strikes -Smart baserunning -Taking your walks -Getting HBP, holding your ground -Hitting a cutoff man -Hustling out everything *At some point, the “boring” tasks of ⚾️ will win extra games! And more often than not, playoff berths, seedings, playoff wins, and even championships can be determined and decided by what many would call “boring.” Turn the “boring” into the “important” and that’s how you win! #BaseballTruth
