To swear or not to swear allegiance to the King?
It's a quandary in Quebec; the issue has been brought to the courts.
Constitutional questions abound as the new @partiquebecois government seeks to cut all ties with the monarchy. ⚜️🚫👑

“In the discussion about French and English, I’ve always felt that there were some proposals that were counterproductive and that basically were petty and that didn’t help French – or certainly not the conviviality between the anglos and francophones,” @JFLisee told @CTVMontreal.

@JFLisee wrote an opinion piece in @LeDevoir, titled « Tirer des roches aux Anglais » (“Throwing rocks at the English”) denouncing the CAQ government’s refusal to grant @electionsquebec an exception, forcing it to comply with Bill 96 and send out unilingual documents.
@JFLisee, the minister responsible for anglophones under former premier Pauline Marois during a PQ minority mandate, said he was shocked to learn @electionsquebec mailed out French-only election guides and voter information cards during this year’s election campaign – a first.
@CFrechette and @PaulPlamondon declined to take part in an English debate; @E_Duhaime and @RubaGhazalQS accepted. @CharlesMilliard said he would only join the debate if all five parties participated. ctvnews.ca/montreal/article/…
The 2026 election campaign has left many English-speaking Quebecers feeling sidelined.
It turns out anglophones have an unlikely ally on two key issues: former @partiquebecois leader @JFLisee.

An awkward moment for @CFrechette with reporters, after a tough weekend dealing with the fallout from claims of U.S. election interference; then a new week starting with three polls suggesting the collapse of the @coalitionavenir — and the possibility of winning 0 seats. #polqc
