To all of the Lithium and Uranium Contrarians out there…. First they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. And then they attack you and want to burn you. Then you win!
X is not a crèche.
Nor a psych’s office where “victims” seek apology.
Grok is not your best (or only) friend…well shouldn’t be!
Beware those touting a “system” claiming they sold at the very top and bought at the very bottom.
Remember, picking bottoms ends with smelly fingers!
An excellent post by YJ Lee on why he thinks the various headlines keeping a lid on the oversold Lithium price are wrong. Just the kind of information that supports a contrarian view on the current market direction.
Hello friends from Japan! On a family holiday here, but I promised to share this chunk from the Sep letter I wrote to investors of my Fund. "The #Lithium Market has a new bear narrative – and why we think it’s wrong."
greenmetalfund.com/lithiums-…
Spent a week in Hong Kong. If you think there’s no demand pressure in #lithium, think again. Price weakness on GFEX in no way reflects the urgency I’ve just experienced. The data is very clear, demand is growing. There is an urgency behind the scenes to secure supply. Game on! $LKE $LLKKF Many thanks to the team at Ignite Investment Summit HK, a great event. youtu.be/ZjlY6aYAo78?si=F2Oc… via @YouTube
Lithium is sold by the kilowatt hour, not by the car, and BESS is now a third of that demand. The general market isn’t making that link yet….

I've been tagged in close to 30 posts over the last 2 weeks, so here are my quick thoughts on the lithium market as I sip my morning coffee.
The recent downturn is in my opinion is simply the downstreaming is bottlenecked. CATL is at 95% utilisation and hence the consumption of lithium ore is capped until more downstreaming capacity is built (which it is and at a rapid pace).
So we are in a period where its a perfect time to drive down the GFEX. Given it seems there is currently a downstreaming bottleneck, driving down the price of lithium makes sense and it's a good opportunity to do so.
One thing i have noticed is it seems the lithium stockpile data presented out by the likes of SMM and Mysteel are being treated as gospel by most lithium commentators.
The truth is nobody knows how much LCE China has stockpiled. You used to go to jail for having this type of information (research Stern Hu if you think its a conspiracy), now people think they are going to give it out for free? Therefore, I pay zero attention to public stockpile data.
Also, you need to understand, It doesn't matter if you're in a deficit or surplus, the GFEX can be manipulated thanks to a little something called inventory.
You can keep manipulating the futures price until you've got insufficient deliverable material. That's when it gets messy. Made up example:
Demand = 3.7 Mt of LCE/year
Supply = 3.6 Mt of LCE/year
Inventories = 50 kt of LCE
Now there is a 100 kt annual deficit.
That 50 kt inventory can conceal the deficit:
Month 1: inventories fall -8.3kt
Month 2: inventories fall - 8.3kt
Month 3: inventories fall - 8.3kt
Month 6: Inventories become 0.
Whilst this is going on, imagine a large participant aggressively sells GFEX futures. Heavy selling could push GFEX from 150k to 100k.
The market can initially look supplied because consumers are receiving material. But they're partly eating into the stockpile.
And this can carry on as long as by month 6 you're comfortable you can replenish the stockpile. It is 100% in the interest of the people consuming lithium to do this.
That said, i think this strategy fails because:
1.) The incentive price to bring on new mines is being under estimated. The price needs to stay above ~$2500 USD for a decent amount of time for financiers to gain confidence to start funding these projects.
2.) The more these rapid price fluctuations happen, the harder each time it is for mine restarts, expansions, etc. to take place. Raise money, restart, care and maintenance, raise money, restart, care and maintenance. All over short time frames. It breaks people's confidence in the lithium market and it will be harder and harder for mines to get funding each time this cycle occurs.
3.) CATL is running at a ~95% factory utilisation rate with production of 498 GWh. Their production capacity is essentially full. Hence the demand for lithium is currently bottlenecked until expansion takes place. This buys time until the 764 GWh under construction is completed.
4.) Greenbushes is aging, Manono isn't going to be the prized jewels people think it will be, many mines greatly under perform from their studies, governance issues in Zimbabwe, lack of infrastructure in Nigeria and instability in the likes of Mali and the DRC.
All of the above will put extreme pressure on the stockpiles. Inventory can hide a deficit short term, but it cant eliminate one. Cheers for reading!
Some more good commentary on the “smoke and mirrors” in the current Lithium market. What happens when the penny drops?

Sentiment on lithium has turned very negative, mostly on the back of unrelated bits of information. So let's talk numbers, not opinions. What do we actually know?
Demand. The hard data: China's battery production through August 2026 is up the equivalent of ~400kt LCE vs last year. If we carry only part of that growth through to year-end, Chinese batteries alone add at least ~500kt LCE of demand vs 2025.
Supply. Here the only hard data is exporters' trade statistics. Change vs 2025, in kt LCE (YTD Aug → full-year 2026F):
🇦🇺 Australia: +30 → +60
🇨🇱 Chile: +70 → +50
🇦🇷 Argentina: +30 → +65
🇧🇷 Brazil: -10 → -15
🌍 Africa: +50 → +65
🇨🇦 Canada: 0 → 0
🇨🇳 China: +40 → +70 (the softest number)
Total: +210 → ~+295
Even after adding the production that projects and producers have announced, 2026 supply growth comes to roughly 300kt. It's not much more than that. It can't be much more than that.
So for 2026:
Demand: +500kt
Supply: ~+300kt
Balance: a deficit of ~200kt LCE
The deficit is already here.
2027? The bears say demand will pull back. That's much harder to agree or disagree with. But the inventory drawdown happening right now will clearly push the market into deficit.
Figures and views are iLiMarkets' assessment.

"Lake progress" - as $LKE Chairman @CrowStu says, "Lithium is in demand globally, and with Argentina's improved business environment and friendly ties with the Trump administration, there's a clear pathway for bringing Kachi into production"

Quite the chart: Uranium Stocks down 43% from January. Long-term uranium at record 👀⚛️
It’s amazing to watch someone so desperate for engagement try to constantly bait others into responding to their nonsensical, repetitive posts. Are they that starved for attention that they need to do this repeatedly, over and over? A sad but somewhat understandable indictment!

Replying to @lake_resources
@Lake_Resources and Lilac have secured environmental approval for the Kachi lithium project in Catamarca, Argentina!
This project will redefine what's achievable in terms of environmental performance in the lithium industry, protecting land and water and returning brine underground.

Congratulations also goes to Lake Resources’ Partner on the Kachi Lithium project in Argentina - Lilac Solutions. The EIA approval is validation of the Lilac DLE flowsheet under the strictest environmental conditions…..including spent brine reinjection.

BREAKING: Argentina President Milei to meet with Elon Musk and Trump next week in the US. 🇺🇸
An excellent post logically mapping out the Lithium supply and demand landscape over the next few years….resulting in a 400,000T deficit likely in 2030 - IF all planned projects arrive on time AND Sodium Ion takes 10% share. They are BIG ifs!
