The @DeptVetAffairs latest National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report shows 6,488 veterans died by suicide in 2024. The data also highlights a significant gap: 62% of those veterans were not receiving VA healthcare in the year they died or the year prior.
The numbers reinforce why reaching out, connecting veterans with resources and continuing the conversation around suicide prevention matters.

Happy Independence Day from The American Legion!
Enjoy the fireworks. Cherish the freedom. Celebrate responsibly.
Reminder: It's not officially the Fourth of July until someone says, "Ooh!" at the fireworks... and someone else insists, "That one's better than last year's." 🎆😂

On this day in 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, enabling women to serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. Armed Forces. #WomenVeteransDay is set aside to thank to all women who have served in our #military.
Thank you to all women veterans past and present - and a special thanks for all of our women Legionnaires out there who made that sacrifice.

“One of those 26,000-plus who did not come home was my uncle, who served in the ball turret of a B17. He flew in the first American attack on Berlin in March 1944. His 28th combat mission – 82 years ago last month – would be his last. Everyone who did not come home from war had a name. My uncle’s name was Vernon Kaufman. I never met him. And yet, I will never forget him.”
In advance of the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, National Commander Dan Wiley pays a special tribute to the heroes – one personal – of World War II.
