West Hampstead SNT

ALT Two police officers in uniform stand in a local park and talk to a resident who is holding her dog in her arms. All are smiling. One of the officers is stroking the dog's head. The photo has yellow and white text over the top of a black gradient, which reads: "Met Engage: Community crime-fighting. Sign up now to tell us what matters to you most."

ALT All of us at the Met are proud to play our part in these VE Day commemorations, paying tribute to a generation who gave so much 80 years ago to secure the freedoms we enjoy today.   We have been working closely with our partners in recent months to plan for today and the coming days. Whether you’re heading into central London or to a street party in your local area, we want you to have a great time.   Londoners can expect to see a more visible police presence, particularly in the Westminster area but also in communities. This is all part of our efforts to keep people safe and to ensure that any incidents can be dealt with as swiftly and effectively as possible.   As with any large-scale event or public gathering, we ask members of the public to be vigilant.   Anyone who sees something that doesn’t look right, however insignificant, should speak to a police officer or a steward immediately. In an emergency, always dial 999.
