1.2B users. ~40 regions. Single-digit-millisecond latency. One team.
@AzureCosmosDB and @OpenAIDevs engineers scaled it together. Read the story 👇
We serve data in milliseconds to more than 1.2 billion users across 40 geographic regions.
To reach that scale, we worked closely with @AzureCosmosDB on our storage architecture, achieving a 12x improvement in global median read latency.
You built it. Now put it in play.

AI agents are writing more code. How can developers ensure that code is correct?
Microsoft Research’s Proof-Driven Development (PDD) Kit explores a more rigorous approach: it translates a developer’s intent into a formal specification, then uses formal verification to prove that generated code meets it.
PDD Kit works with Verus for Rust and is integrated with @GitHubNext’s Chopin, bringing formal methods into an AI-assisted development workflow for teams.
See the work in action at @github Universe, Oct. 28–29, 2026.
#GitHubUniverse kicks off next week, October 28–29.

Introducing Microsoft-Decision-1, our new model for fast decision-making.
It delivers top performance on structured decision tasks, outperforming both LLMs and other decision models in latency and quality.
We’re already testing it across Microsoft for everything from incident response and quality control to scientific discovery.

Classification is a key use case for decision models.
Check out how accurately and quickly Microsoft-Decision-1 can categorize a variety of queries compared to GPT-6 Sol.
This is our first release in this new class of decision models, and we will continue to release updates including versions built on @MicrosoftAI and OpenAI models in the future.
Get started with Microsoft-Decision-1 today in Microsoft Foundry and soon through OpenRouter.
