The overall diet matters more than individual foods and nutrients
Portmann, @Jess_Fitz_APD, @EmmaHalmos, Bryant & @Alice_APD summarize IBD-specific diet quality index:
✅ No dietary quality index has been validated for an IBD population
✅ The DGI-2013 index meets the most criteria and is based on the Australian people:
🔸dietary data collected via a 111-item food frequency questionnaire
🔸anthropometry (body mass index, waist circumference)
🔸cardiometabolic risk factors (insulin resistance, cholesterol)
🔸health-related behaviours (e.g., smoking, activity)
🔸included UC population with ileoanal pouch
✅ Other valuable indices to assess diet quality: DHD Index-2015, PHDI, and HEIFA-2013

Honored to co-author this interantional SAR-endorsed consensus on small bowel #Crohn’s disease strictures! 🙌
Key updates:
➡️ Stricture = dilation ≥2.5 cm (not 3.0 cm)
➡️ Failed endoscopic passage = stricture, even without dilation
