Finding Andrew: The Kiwi hero killed in Ukraine 🇺🇦🇳🇿 Dr Andrew Bagshaw, a New Zealander, travelled to Ukraine in 2022 to do something extraordinary: save people trapped in towns and cities under Russian attack. He rescued more than 500 people before disappearing during another dangerous humanitarian mission. He put his own life on the line to save strangers — people he had never met, but whose lives mattered to him. In Finding Andrew, award-winning investigative documentary maker Bryan Bruce retraces Andrew’s steps and uncovers a deeply troubling story. The Ukrainian people will always be grateful to Andrew for choosing not to watch Russia’s war against Ukraine from the safety of Christchurch, 17,000 kilometres away, but to come to Ukraine and help those whose lives were at risk. Andrew’s story is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments of war, there are people who choose courage, compassion and humanity over indifference. 🎥 Please watch and share Finding Andrew. youtu.be/XQKuRXnogs0?si=lkcg…

A Drone With Only One Motor! And a 3D-printed propeller. And somehow, it still manages to fly. The really interesting part is how you control it. By accelerating and decelerating the motor more than 300 times per second, you can control the drone's thrust, pitch, and roll. The propeller spins at almost 20,000 RPM, with its tips approaching half the speed of sound. Getting this to work required custom firmware, a homemade high-speed imaging setup to study the blades, and hundreds of crashes. I've been sharing Joshua Bird's videos for quite a while now. I just love the things he comes up with and how much effort he puts into making them work. We're also going to talk about a few other projects he's currently working on. More on that soon! And if you want to take a closer look at how he built this thing, he's made the code and CAD files open source. github.com/jyjblrd/single-pr… Full YouTube video: youtu.be/Ndftcft6XhU?si=19rA… —— Weekly robotics and AI insights. True. Imagine if the CEO of Boeing during WW2 ensured that his bombers, which included the B17 and B29, could only fly over allies and not enemy countries. The excuse making over the Starlink issue is pathetic and overflowing in moral cowardice.
This is now hitting peak stupidity. I don’t know how they look themselves in the mirror when Ukrainians died in the attacks.

Trump believes Ukraine is deliberately striking Russian oil refineries to hurt him and the Republicans in the US midterm elections, – The Atlantic. How do I put this gently, Donnie? You see, we Ukrainians have been a LITTLE busy fighting the largest war in Europe since WWII, while our very existence as a nation is under threat. Including striking the infrastructure that fuels Russia’s war machine. You know, playing those cards you once reminded us we didn’t have. So this time, we didn’t quite manage to squeeze ‘interfering in our strategic ally’s midterm elections’ into our schedule.

Weidel: "Prolonging the war and shooting drones into the hinterland of Russia, destroying refineries, houses, and buildings near Moscow, is a huge provocation." Host: "It's defending itself." Weidel: "No, it's not." Host: "Every night, drones and ballistic missiles rain down on Ukraine..." Weidel: "This strategy is very risky, and we've been criticizing it. We want to end this war. It doesn't help if a country [Ukraine] launches drone attacks against a country [Russia] that has nuclear weapons. It doesn't make sense, it's very risky and very stupid. We need to end this, and we need to actually put pressure on Ukrainian president to have the willingness to end the dying and stop this very risky strategy for all of Europe."🔚 Folks, here is Weidel's imaginary reality: black is white, the victim is to blame for the crime against them, and defending your home against a bloody, illegal invasion that murders children and razes towns is "stupid," while letting Russia occupy you and carry out a country-wide Bucha massacre is probably smart. And defending yourself is risky! Risky, did you hear that? Well, no shit, just standing there and catching Russian ballistics with your face is risky, too. So we may as well take the risk and, hear me out, fight back? Please don't vote for this evil Russian appendix in Germany!

Even the @GuardianAus is getting into it. Hey @lb_online, what about looking at these descriptions of what happened in Wangaratta. Even @Albo said it was deliberate?? Really? Before cops finish enquiries? Haines "attacked say the headlines. No one has any idea until full charges

Trump: "We've given a lot to Ukraine. We've gotten absolutely nothing back, except grief, death, and tremendous monetary loss." I don't know how you live with yourself. "Tremendous MONETARY loss"? Well, sorry we got invaded and Russia has been bombing us every day for years and years, blowing up babies in their strollers, burning people in their cars, and crushing people's homes over their heads as they sleep. I thought lives were worth defending, but sure, go ahead and tell us about monetary loss. Trump: "We've given incredible amounts of equipment and military, primarily military equipment, but equipment of all kinds." By the way, is it "tremendous"? US aid to Ukraine is 130–160 billion, including humanitarian aid. The US spent about a trillion in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ukrainians are very thankful for the military aid provided, but we are supposed to defeat the "second army in the world" for a fraction of what you spent fighting terrorists with Soviet rifles and bazookas?

Trump is lying again. Putin started the war and has repeatedly refused to negotiate to end it. The US spent nothing like $350 billion. Half the money is not missing. Washington and Moscow are both significantly more corrupt than Kyiv. Putin, not Zelensky, is a dictator who openly steals elections.
And not a word about Putin, who started this bloody war and is killing Ukrainians. Trump is Putin's friend, as he himself says.

Just so you understand the scale of betrayal: first, our "partners" didn't warn Ukraine about the incoming ballistic missiles, so the air raid alert wasn't activated before impact, robbing people of their chance to survive. Then, Starlink was restricted to stop working at speeds above 100 mph. This renders useless, first and foremost, our interceptor drones. It doesn't limit our ability to attack inside Russia, it limits our ability to stop another apartment building or school full of civilians from being hit. Wow, just wow.

Shame!
🚨 BREAKING: Zelensky confirms Ukraine received no intelligence from its partners last night Since last evening, Russian forces have attacked Ukraine with more than 100 weapons, including jet-powered drones, loitering munitions and ballistic missiles. A significant number were intercepted, but unfortunately not all of them, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. In particular, Russia launched what Zelensky described as a particularly treacherous ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, with five missiles striking civilian infrastructure. “Unfortunately, there was no warning from our partners about this attack,” the Ukrainian president stressed. Intelligence on Russian ballistic missile launches is crucial for saving lives. Zelensky also noted that Ukraine had refrained from striking Russian oil refineries for two days following Trump's announcement of an energy ceasefire. Russia, meanwhile, continues to bomb civilians.
