After finding a large pupa in the garden, my son and I decided to monitor, to see what would emerge. Turns out is what a stunning Elephant Hawk Moth (Deilephila elpenor) 😍

Great to meet up with @MacroChambers at Brockadale last night. Evarcha falcata one of our targets, wasn't expecting to see any after dark tbh, but he spotted this male sleeping suspended by a thread of silk. Looking forward to seeing his shots!

Well, here's a first! An insect with human ears!
Jokes aside, what do you think is going on here with this Spittlebug (Aphrophora sp.)?

Foundation stage we’re lucky to have minibeast photographer @MacroChambers come to visit us. He talked to us about how he’d managed to capture such magnificent images. The children were enthralled!

The first opportunity I've had to get a good angle on mating spiders, and they were on my back garden! 😃 Happy to get the detail of the male's inflated haematodocha.

Luckily for me, this is a male Twin-lobed Deerfly (Chrysops relictus), and they feed on nectar and other lovely plant juices. So my blood was off the menu! That was until the females turned up...
