Today Aavin price hike for Ghee, sweets, Curd from TN government.
There are several main factors to examine.
✅1. The cost of buying milk has increased
In August 2026, Tamil Nadu raised the procurement price paid to milk producers in two stages.
Before August revision ₹38/L
From September ₹44/L
The government attributed the increase to rising green fodder, dry fodder, bran, oil cakes and other cattle-feed costs. It said the higher procurement expense would be compensated by the state
Why does this matter for the latest price revision?
Milk is the principal raw material for ghee, butter, curd, milk cake, palkova and several other Aavin products. Higher milk procurement costs can therefore increase their production costs.
✅2. Aavin has been facing financial losses and declining milk procurement
This is potentially the more important structural issue.
Aavin's federation recorded a loss of approximately ₹120 crore in 2025–26. Seven district milk producers' unions also recorded combined losses of ₹23 crore. The report attributed the pressure to subsidised milk sales, higher production costs and falling milk procurement.
Reported daily milk procurement
2024-25. - 36 lakh litres/day
2026. - 31.5 Lakh litres/ day
The reported reduction is roughly 4–5 lakh litres daily, or around 11–14%
This creates a possible cycle: insufficient milk procurement increases reliance on alternative inputs, higher production costs squeeze margins, and price revisions become one way to recover some of the shortfall.
✅3. Is the Diwali season another reason?
The timing is notable. The revised prices take effect on October 28, immediately before Diwali, when demand for ghee and traditional sweets typically rises.
🚨Ghee (1 litre): ₹700 → ₹780
Mysore pak (250g): ₹140 → ₹160
Milkshake (200ml): ₹30 → ₹35
Curd (500ml): ₹35 → ₹40
✅My conclusion
The evidence supports three conclusions:
1. There is a credible cost-pressure explanation. Higher farmer procurement prices, declining milk procurement and reported losses provide a plausible economic basis for reviewing the prices of dairy products.
2. The government compensation is an important qualification. The ₹720 crore annual additional burden announced for procurement was to be borne by the state. It would be misleading to treat the full procurement-price increase as an uncompensated cost to Aavin without examining the actual accounts.
3. The justification for each individual price increase remains unproven. The published order provides a general explanation but does not show the cost calculation behind each revised MRP.

The evidence points to six interacting factors:
1. Aavin is procuring substantially less milk than it needs.
2. Farmers have an economic incentive to sell to private dairies, which often pay more and/or pay faster.
3. Heat, water scarcity and cattle-feed costs have reduced yields in some regions.
4. Milk-quality problems are reducing usable milk and increasing Aavin’s processing costs.
5. Aavin subsidised retail pricing and financial losses make it difficult to compete aggressively for raw milk.
6. Distribution/allocation problems are making the shortage much worse in particular districts, even where milk is available elsewhere.

DMK might have never imagined some newer force will win the election & started to arrest their DMK politician & TVK disrupted entire Dravidian politics in Tamil Nadu.
TVK played exact BJP play book started to arrest their main opponent DMK but they still didn’t touch ADMK politician. If TVK wins majority in by-election then next move will be ADMK. Most probably before that many from ADMK will try to join TVK to get clean from washing machine like Vijaya Bhaskar.
One good thing regarding hunt down of corrupt Politician by TVK. Suppose if DMK win major election then they will start to hunt TVK politician if they took any bribe. It should make fear on down cadre who might be taking money for ward/Counsellor election in ground as per JV report.
