The thing I’m most grateful to Elon for is bringing back an age of wonder and excitement to humanity. That was jaw-dropping awesome! Screams and mouths wide open in the audience. Nuts.

The word “watermark” comes from photos and is visible by all. This is only identifiable by Anthropic. Once again they are judge, jury, and prosecutor. Lots of reasons to not use their products.
They chose to make this mark invisible and manipulative while the EU regulation here required neither. The EC is on vacation and does not provide guidance on how to comply with their regulations anyway.

Data centers are good and we should build a lot more of them. Every major argument against data centers I've seen is very bad.

Odd to me for an ex-actor to be so obsessed with this. Has similar vibe as Ferris Bueller’s sister in the first 4/5 of the movie when her whole identity is busting her brother, before she meets Charlie Sheen who tells her "sounds like your problem is you"
🚨UNBELIEVABLE: Anti-crypto activist Ben McKenzie celebrates killing the Clarity Act with a beer. "To the most corrupt president in history and to the crypto bros everywhere. Cheers." McKenzie also adds he helped kill the bill.

I don’t love this idea that nothing anyone said or did in 2019-2020 counts. Like it’s fine as a sociological observation, but I want political leaders who keep their heads even in the face of dumb fads.

A lot of chin-stroking over on BlueSky about why there's so much interest in the Arday story. It's because it beautifully and hilariously exposes the intellectual dishonesty of your worldview guys, of course you don't get it! 🤪

people are dramatically underappreciating how much this discovery rewrites history > for decades, archaeologists believed the amazon could only support small, scattered communities because its soil was too poor for large, complex civilizations > then deforestation started exposing giant circles + squares carved into the ground, and the theory began falling apart > the intact jungle still hid the true scale, so researchers flew lidar over 4,500 km² and digitally peeled away the trees > they found 396 previously unknown earthworks, some surrounded by ditches 5m deep + connected by roads > across the full region, they estimate 20,000+ structures spread over an area roughly the size of syria > most belonged to a 2,500-year-old society researchers call the aquiry > its peak population is estimated at 1.25-3 million people (the city of rome had roughly 1 million) > so while rome ruled the mediterranean, this supposedly impossible forest society may have supported 1-3 romes worth of people > which raises the obvious question: how did a region archaeologists thought was infertile feed millions? > it turns out this part of the amazon has unusually fertile soil, and they grew maize + squash while actively managing the surrounding forest > then around 850-950 ad, their ceremonial centers were suddenly abandoned, and researchers still have no idea why > and all of this came from a territory covering less than 3% of the amazon what else is still hiding beneath the other 97% of the Amazon??
Archaeologists have officially discovered a massive, completely lost ancient civilization hidden deep beneath the Amazon rainforest using advanced LiDAR laser technology. A sprawling, pre-Columbian network of cities that completely rewrites human history.

In my experience, there are a lot of people on the left who believe that leftist politics is objective reality and non-leftism, or anti-leftism, is a media product—specifically, something that can only be created by propaganda that separates people from the objective experience of reality.

This misreporting by @politico gets to the heart of the covid response disaster. If governments had not suspended free speech, and the media not abetted devastating takedowns of scientists for the crime of contradicting government scientists, so much harm could have been avoided.

Please stop referring to your own models in the third person when talking about model bad behavior. Humans write the software; humans built the prompts; and they work for your company. “Our” model is doing illegal things. “Our” model is risky. “We” now have liability.
In a review of our cybersecurity evaluations, we found three incidents in which a Claude model reached the internet from within or while interacting with a third-party evaluation environment, and then gained unauthorized access to the real systems of three different organizations. Our post describes what happened, how it happened, and what we’re changing. We encourage other AI developers to perform similar reviews. We conducted this review together with @Irregular, one of our evaluation partners, and thank them for the joint investigation and their collaboration on this post. This type of collaboration is increasingly critical to safe, rigorous evaluation of models, and we look forward to continuing to work together on security. anthropic.com/news/investiga…
