I’m Mike. My Mom calls me “Michael”
Family man. Government relations exec. Investor. Traveler. Backyard bird watcher. Cigar collector. Still figuring plenty of things out.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the second half of life.
Money gets more serious.
Career gets more complicated.
Parents get older.
Kids grow up.
Time starts feeling more valuable.
So I’m using this page to make sense of money, markets, career, policy and life after 50.
Not from the perspective of a guru…by far.
But from the perspective of someone still building, still learning, and trying to make the second half outperform the first.
Welcome to Second Half Alpha.

We’ve had a family chat group for years - me, wife and our two kids.
When they were in the house, most of it were reminders of chores, confirming afterschool events, etc
Now that the nest is empty, I’ve enjoyed our chat group so much more.
A scripture or posting of an old family pic are common adds; and the kids might send us progress reports from college exams.
Same communication method but the content hits differently now. 🙏🏾❤️
Nothing like having a Friday off. Here’s my day-off Line up. #TGIF
Visited my home church today - the first time in years. No more than 100 in the pews, significantly less than back in the day.
And yet, the spirit in that place was still strong, loving, and pure.
There are some places, in its lack of stature and old age, still give u the greatest (feeling) because of the people and culture that resides there.
