She was a last-minute replacement for Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat after Cameron Diaz broke her wrist. She also became a serious in-demand pop star in Japan, releasing two albums.

We are sad to learn that Japanese writer Ryū Murakami has passed away at 74 years old.
Murakami wrote the 1997 novel AUDITION which was adapted into Takashi Miike's horror masterpiece.
He also wrote the novels Almost Transparent Blue and Coin Locker Babies.
Rest in Peace.

In 1999, Shannon Elizabeth played the exchange student every guy remembered from American Pie. By 2026 she was 52, separated from her husband, staying with friends and keeping her things in storage, and then she opened an OnlyFans and made $1 million in nine days.
After the early 2000s, when she was in Scary Movie, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Love Actually, she mostly stepped away from Hollywood, moved to South Africa in 2016 and put her time into a wildlife conservation foundation.
The money she lived on came from those old movies. As she told Variety: "For the last ten years I've been living off of my savings for the most part, because I haven't been as focused on work."
In September 2025 she and her husband, a South African conservationist she married in 2021, quietly split up. When she talked to Page Six that spring, she still didn't have a home of her own: "I haven't figured out where I'm going to live and if I'm going to buy, if I'm going to rent, what can I do?"
In April 2026 she launched her OnlyFans and filed for divorce the same month. Her page promised "the side of me that doesn't make it into movies," and according to reports it had no full nudity.
"I crossed $1 million in nine days," she told Variety, and she says she has made millions since, more than she got for some of the biggest movies of her career.
Now she says she can pick projects "because I like them and not because I need the money," and get back "to the point where I'm not struggling."
The case for Shannon: Hollywood stopped calling, so she built her own business at 52 and owns every dollar of it.
The case against: a movie star who was on every teenage boy's wall in 1999 shouldn't need OnlyFans to pay for a place to live.
Smart business move at 52, or proof of how little Hollywood leaves you once the roles stop?

Thunderball remake Never Say Never Again was quite the sensation in ‘83 for restoring Connery’s double-oh status.
Outgrossed by Octopussy despite some favorable reviews.
There’s plenty to enjoy but it’s no Diamonds are Forever.

Remembering the technicolor beauty and soulful acting of Maureen O'Hara, who passed this day 10/24/2015. . Of all her films, it was "The Quiet Man" that was her favorite, as she "Loved Mary Kate Danaher. I loved the Hell and Fire in her"..

Friedkin’s serial killer/courtroom drama Rampage (1987) pales in comparison to Manhunter et al.
Starring Johnny Ringo from the Tombstone, Mercy from The Warriors and DeputyDodd from The Dead Zone.
Horrid acting by the supporting cast.😬
This is the guy who directed Sorcerer?!😖

Jack Nicholson is barely in Broadcast News. He only shows up on screen for 3 minutes of a 133 minute movie. But despite barely being in the film, Nicholson’s presence is heavily felt. His character basically serves as another perfect demonstration on all that’s wrong with the television industry & news reporting (at the time - things have gotten way, way worse). When Nicholson finally does appear on screen? Impossible to forget. James L. Brooks & Jack Nicholson were an awesome duo. This is just another reason why.

Coming on December 7th on #4K and Blu-ray in the UK from @StudioCanal as part of their Classics Collection: #JacquesTati Collection!
In 6 feature films and 7 short films, Tati has established his originality as both an actor and director, embodying François the postman and Monsieur Hulot, two comical figures who are on a par with characters created by Buster Keaton, Laurel and Hardy and Charlie Chaplin. Tati was a formidable inventor of new styles and a master in the art of observing the everyday and the modern, with a critical but humorous approach.

Drew Hanlen caught Sophie Cunningham completely off guard with an unexpected question about boobs before taking the conversation a step further and asking if any WNBA players have fake ones. Sophie gave her answer, but things got even more interesting when Drew asked if she would ever consider getting breast implants herself. Her response made the already unexpected conversation even crazier.
