‼️ Nearly 18 years in cybersecurity. Strict carrier safeguards. His phone number was still hijacked for 61 minutes. Our GM, Mark Kreitzman, was driving through the Arizona desert when his mobile service disappeared. At first, he thought it was a coverage problem. Then he hoped an expired credit card had caused a missed payment. When he reached Wi-Fi at his parents’ house, six password reset notifications revealed what was happening. Mark says his carrier account required him to be physically present in a store to make changes. Despite those precautions, attackers took control of his mobile account - and later ported it back. That is what makes this story unsettling: Mark understood the risk and had taken steps to protect himself. For anyone whose number is connected to sensitive accounts, mobile security also means protecting who can authorize changes to that number. It is a concern at the heart of our work at @efani.
