Excited to share the published version of our paper: Thermal Adaptation in Worldwide Collections of a Major Fungal Pathogen 🌍🔥 Congrats to @MinanaPosada and @AliceFeurtey for leading this great work! 🎉 Read it here: apsjournals.apsnet.org/doi/1…
Had a lot of fun presenting my new SNSF postdoc.mobility project at APCOP-V 24. It was super refreshing discussing #TEs in the context of marine green algae 🪸 – at Brisbane, Queensland

Very grateful to have been able to contribute to this collaborative effort with 28 authors. We show e.g. that two LTR retrotransposon families preferentially insert in einkorn centromeres, contributing to their dynamic evolution. @thomaswicker314

Check out the last chapter of my PhD on #Triticeae de novo genes! Non-coding regions of #TEs could hold the key to functional innovation in TM domains and evolution of secreted proteins. 🌱🌾

Oats, triticale, hull-less barley, lupin, faba beans and buckwheat are rarely cultivated. The EU project @H2020Cropdiva intends to change that. Agroscope analyses the value chains of four of these crops in order to promote their cultivation and processing.

Poster alert at #ESEB2022! I'm presenting the first chromosome-scale genome assembly of the Biscutella genus, plus interesting observations on 3D chromatin organization and centromeric TEs.

@alexsoti_92, our colleagues and I just published a paper reporting the spread of wheat powdery mildew across the world in historical times. Mildew spread through human migration and trade and locally adapted through hybridization.

Our preprint on Triticeae-specific genes is out! Here, we identified de novo genes underlying important Triticeae adaptations, and we propose TEs as hotspots for the evolution of adaptive secreted proteins.

It's finally out! This broad spectrum resistance allele is will help sorghum farmers deal with a devastating fungal disease. Thrilled to have played a role in figuring out how this unusual gene is regulated by transposons (!) and antisense transcription. academic.oup.com/plcell/adva…
