Hot take: it’s the absurd amount of conditioning being done at the youth level all the way through college
It’s how guys punish players, it’s how coaches start or end practice, it’s preseason, it’s after losses, if guys don’t make enough shots - the list is endless, it’s essentially non-stop - ironically, it hardly conditions you for ACTUAL basketball
Now add in all the weights, trainings, travel tournaments, and on - guys are over extending themselves more than ever earlier than ever
I can do this all day. Game “intensity” is not rising at any pace similar to injuries.
Accounting for rest and load management, injuries aren’t going up in older players so that automatically breaks the argument that game intensity is a major factor.
Injuries are:
-young players
-early season
-not related to schedule or style change in a significant way that explains the rise
It’s a young player problem exacerbated by the lack of ramp and preseason.

I think ppl tend to read too much into practice videos
see a quick clip from an individual drill and genuinely assume that's the only thing the player is working on
or in the offseason if a little montage is posted, HE'S IN THE LAB
no videos? He must not be working on his game
Mostly catch & shoot with layups added in, only 3 off the dribble jumpers. You love to see it.

What a block - @NoChillGilZero called the move too
Never tried this, but I do have kids shoot from half court to show them how to build a little bit fluidity and bring their elbow in underneath the ball
Lakers are going to another interesting watch. I wasn’t sure how much Kessler was going to help but having that lob threat for Luka & Reeves is the real deal!
76ers are going to have a chance if they can stay healthy. 5 solid pieces and a spot to match every position, should be fun to watch!
Love this. We see it all the time in basketball. Kids down 20 celebrating combo moves and 3’s. Just get back on defense
I’ve been on this train for a while now
“Goals” seem obvious & universal - do you want to win? Go to the highest level? Win a championship?
Duh, so does everyone - what are your goals for today? How do you get better now?
Get better today, the rest will fall into place
At Iowa men’s basketball media day:
Head Coach Ben McCollum in year 2 says:
“I set goals last year and we didn’t meet any of them. I’m done with goals.”
“My goal is to just play really really hard and create habits.” @KCCINews
