Does Madrid have to be next before we take this seriously?
I want an honest debate about security, immigration policy and integration. About what a country can manage, what it expects from everyone living there, and what happens when those rules are broken.
Turning uncomfortable questions into forbidden subjects is a political choice. So is refusing to answer them.
Everyone who lives here has rights and duties. The same law must protect the shopkeeper and hold whoever smashes his window accountable.
Europe inherited freedoms that took centuries to build. Keeping them requires institutions willing to defend them, and citizens willing to demand it.
Identify the offenders. Bring them before the courts. Protect residents and businesses. Hold those governing accountable for their decisions.
I refuse to accept boarded-up windows as the price of living in a modern European city.
When do we start calling things by their name?
