These are Asaad al-Rifai and Subhi Abu Shuqeir, two Palestinian terrorists who brutally murdered four Israeli civilians in Elad on May 5, 2022. Oren Ben Yiftah had agreed to drive them to Elad, unaware that they were planning a massacre. When they arrived, Subhi distracted him while Asaad grabbed his head and stabbed him 21 times in the neck, chest, and arms. They pushed his bleeding body out of the car, tried to steal his vehicle, and when they failed, continued on foot. And even that wasn't enough for them. Armed with axes, they went looking for more Jews to murder. They attacked Boaz Gol, repeatedly striking his head and neck with their axes. Even after he collapsed to the ground, they continued striking him. Then they found Yonatan Havakuk with his six-year-old son. They attacked him with an axe, striking his head, neck, and face as his little boy watched his father being brutally murdered. They continued through the park, attacking Shay Ben Shlomo as he sat near his four young children. Both terrorists struck him in the neck with their axes and continued attacking him until he collapsed. Despite his horrific injuries, Shay managed to get back on his feet and gather his children to escape, but collapsed again after just a few steps. They then attacked Shimon Maatuf, repeatedly striking his head with their axes. Shimon fought for his life for nine months before dying from his injuries on February 2, 2023. They also attacked Haim Bechor, striking him in the head with an axe and continuing even after he fell to the ground, before fleeing the scene. The judges wrote that it was difficult to put into words the unimaginable cruelty of their actions. Four men were murdered. Children watched their fathers being hacked with axes. Families were destroyed. Never forget what these monsters did.
