O'Shaquie Foster doesn't need to beat the winner of Anthony Cacace vs. Nick Ball to validate that he's the best 130-pounder in the world. Give him Lomachenko next.
O'Shaquie Foster UD-12 Emanuel Navarrete by scores of 115-111, 118-108 twice. That 115-111 judge had it a one-point fight going to the 12th. Terrible.
O'Shaquie Foster with the emphatic punctuation to this fight, dropping Emanuel Navarrete twice in round 12 to leave zero doubt who the best 130-pounder in the world is. Unreal performance by him. Happy for him, what a guy.
Foster ahead 106-103 on my card going into round 12 but Navarrete landed a big shot at the end of the round that should have him coming in strong in final round
If he wins, O'Shaquie Foster vs. Shakur Stevenson where they meet at 130 pounds two Ring Magazine champions ... I actually am liking that fight. Foster is peaking.
Foster doing a lot of his best work in the opening 30-45 seconds of a round and then slowing up a little bit
Foster clearly ahead but he has to stay switched on at all times. These uppercuts and big hooks are getting closer and closer for Navarrete.
Foster clearly the more talented fighter but he's starting to take longer spells between throwing and that's not going to help him on the scorecards. He needs to dominate a lot more of his active stretches if he's going to do that. 48-47 Foster. #NavarreteFoster
This referee is not in the kind of shape you need to be to ref a fight like this. I've seen him get caught up in the action with his body a couple of times already.
Navarrete's biggest mistake so far is conceding in the clinches. Foster has been doing some nasty stuff in close and Navarrete should be pounding him in the side of the ribs whenever they tie up. He's looking for the ref to break them instead. 39-37 Foster.
Foster lost a tiny bit of his composure in round 2 and Navarrete had moments. But if he can stay focused and not get greedy, this could end up looking like an easy fight.
"Navarrete is getting closer with some of these shots." Well it would be harder to get any further away than some of the ones he missed in round 1...
