If you can ace a college class by letting an LLM do all your work, then it's not really a college class.
The single most effective bit of "bike infrastructure" in Cleveland would be consistently towing motor vehicles that are parked in bike lanes.
It can be started this afternoon, it would be immediately revenue-positive, and it would be more useful than any possible Midway.
Ever notice in Cleveland that there are a) big initiatives that get talked about; and b) big initiatives that get done?
a) Things that working people need and use.
b) Things that benefit real estate bros.
I cannot emphasize enough: the Superior Midway isn't for bikes. Bikes do not need tens of millions of dollars in real estate subsidies. A few miles of jersey barriers would work just as well and could be done in a month.

Well this is a remarkable story.

It's not just Cleveland I guess.
This is exactly true of the many meetings about various transportation planning initiatives in Cleveland.
All this "public participation" is clearly a way to *avoid* doing things. But people really like being included in it! So it serves the purpose.
Replying to @humantransit
It certainly took a lot of time. But after two years, I realized that our role was to simulate power rather than exercise it. When the big decisions came up, nobody cared what we thought. 7/
I was just in Chicago and I couldn't help noticing that there is *nothing* branded "Illinois" there. People do not identify with Illinois. It's some external entity that you have to pay taxes to but otherwise ignore.
It hurts so much to see Cleveland people claim "Ohio." 1/
It's like Stockholm Syndrome. "Ohio" hates all cities, especially Cleveland, and is trying to kill them. We should be resisting "Ohio," not embracing it.
We're creating all the jobs, paying all the taxes, subsidizing the rural &suburban areas, and getting nothing in return. 2/
This is so much on point. Blurbs like "Happy Holidays" and "Go Cavs!" are only cool if you never ride the bus!
They make the service harder to use.
I know people who get to be on a lot of fancy, high-profile panels.
It's kind of cool but the point is that you don't have to be Mayor of Cleveland or anything—you can just be really good at science or literature or stuff like that. Even sports.
This is good! Read it all!
We're expecting Cleveland City Council ward maps today. Here's how I'm thinking about the release, both on substance and on process.
Long one today, but there's a lot to cover. 1/24

It's not a real vote if No isn't an option.
Join us today at 3 p.m. for a press conference hosted by Cleveland City Council President Blaine A. Griffin. He will discuss the redistricting map that Councilmembers are set to vote on during the City Council meeting on January 6.

They have unlimited resources to surveil peaceful protesters (and cite them for noise?) but they can't figure out who shot my house on video.
Yesterday afternoon, a suspected police drone hovered over protesters demanding Cuyahoga County Executive @chrisronayne divest from Israeli war bonds, a chilling encroachment on First Amendment rights. Without apparent probable cause, the drone loomed as @clepolice Chief Dorothy Todd, Deputy Chief Jarod Schlacht, and dozens of officers were present. A helicopter circled overhead, and other surveillance tools were deployed. Meanwhile, five protesters were cited for “noise” violations.
Just days earlier, on November 20, the Cleveland Community Police Commission @216cpc, led by @pietvanlier, forced through a reckless drone policy granting the Division sweeping surveillance powers. The Commission, meant to serve the interests of the community, ignored public outcry. I was the lone Commissioner present who voted no. Commissioner Jan Ridgeway also does not support the policy and believes that it should've been tabled.
Two days prior, when questioned about whether Constitutional experts had reviewed this policy, Commissioners Piet van Lier and Shandra Benito (@shandra_benito) reacted with hostility and battered me. To my knowledge, the Department of Justice has not approved this policy and Chief Todd has not responded to my request for more information. If the drone belongs to @clepolice, its operation would therefore be unlawful.
Cm. Joe Jones asked for time to lead #Cleveland City Council in prayer last night, ending "in the name of Jesus," in direct response to Rebecca Maurer's speech against gerrymandering.
I don't think it's a coincidence that Maurer is Jewish.
He was praying *at* her.
