This little Ethiopian Orthodox diptych arrived- it opens on 2 sides. 1st side is John the Baptist with an angel & his martyrdom and the 2nd shows Saint George slaying the dragon & the Virgin Mary and Christ. I think it's beautiful! Probably dates from the 1950s. – at Hull, England

A small peak at the Halloween episode of the podcast- Gloucestershire's Ghost House 👻😱 The true account of a very haunted house in the Forest of Dean. Did the local Spiritualist church have something to do with this haunting?
Full episode out on 30/10/26
Also bought at visit to my framer's studio yesterday, couldn't resist. Also an excellent artist in his own right (Mark Hebblewhite)! #thecramps
Good Morning! My Halloween night is sorted with a gig at the Hull Adelphi by Roman Jugg who played the keyboards with the Damned at the time of this classic album! #thedamned – at Hull, England
These 2 bits of Georgian ephemera back from the framer- a road strip map of the route from Hull to Flamborough from 1720 and a Royal Navy discharge certificate from 1794. Very pleased with them! 😁 – at Hull, England

“What number is this, Chip?”
“7-A!”
This weekend marks the anniversary of “Daydream Believer,” released on October 25, 1967.
Written by John Stewart of the Kingston Trio, and produced by Chip Douglas, it became one of those records that seemed to be an instant hit. Davy sang the lead, I sang harmony, Mike played guitar, Peter played piano, and Chip was there on bass and percussion. Shorty Rogers supplied the orchestral arrangement.
The single became our third No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, holding the top spot for four weeks. It also reached No. 1 in Canada, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa, No. 2 in Australia and Norway, No. 4 in Germany and Japan, and No. 5 in the U.K.
Peter came up with that instantly recognizable piano introduction, and the B-side was “Goin’ Down.” It had actually been recorded during the sessions for PISCES, AQUARIUS, CAPRICORN & JONES LTD., but wound up appearing on THE BIRDS, THE BEES & THE MONKEES instead.
Let's hear it for "Daydream Believer!"

October 23, 1959: Twilight Zone's "The Sixteen Millimeter Shrine" airs. A movie queen who pines for the old days finds a unique and supernatural way to rejoin her former co-stars.
Stars Ida Lupino, who later directed "The Masks" — the only star to helm a TZ *and* the only woman.

I saw that 18th century naval discharge certificate you posted & thought you might be interested in this letter
It's dated 20 September 1804, from a Lieutenant French of Hull, chasing unpaid Prize Money.
AI has done a reasonable job of the transcript.

I found it. I moved a small collection of old documents to a fancy tin, on my bookshelves, last New Year.
This is it (and the offending tin):-
New addition to my Georgian library- this rebound pamphlet from 1782. First printing of the resignation speech of Foreign Secretary Charles James Fox due to distrust of new PM Lord Shelburn appointed by George III and failure to end American War. A shocking moment! – at Hull, England
