Yes, let’s talk about it, Durk lol First, mazel tov on generational wealth. For those assuming he signed an awful deal… Durk had LEVERAGE. He was about to exit his deal with a #1 album. This could be a LICENSING agreement with Sony, which is the ideal structure (see thread).

Since I know at least one person will reply with, “Well, what if this is a traditional record deal? What about then?!” For $40M? You take the deal. 99.999 percent of artists won’t see that kind of revenue in their careers.

For those curious how popular these deals are… Drake, Weeknd, and Taylor Swift, among other artists, have licensing agreements with Republic. J. Cole with Roc Nation. The list goes on. Labels don’t mind these deals because they help with market share (and they still make money).
