Today I have written to the head of the UK Football Policing Unit after its disgraceful attempt to link alcohol with the Hillsborough disaster following the Prime Minister’s call to ease restrictions at football matches. Alcohol did not cause Hillsborough. The behaviour of supporters did not cause or contribute to the disaster. These are the authoritative, factual conclusions of the inquests and the independent investigations. They are not matters of opinion. Thirty-seven years on, when will policing authorities finally accept the truth and stop perpetuating the lies and smears created in the aftermath of the disaster? Enough is enough. #JFT97

🌍Africa’s #healthsystems needs the institutions to govern them, the operational capacity to improve them & the accountability to measure they work. That is the difference between financing a system & building a sustainable one paulmarsden335496.substack.c…

Building a strong mental health workforce is essential for advancing Africa’s health systems and achieving the @_AfricanUnion's Agenda 2063. Many African countries still face challenges in delivering quality mental health services due to a shortage of skilled professionals. Through the Mental Health Leadership Program (#MHLP), Africa CDC is bridging this gap. We’re proud to announce that, in partnership with the University of Ibadan, Africa CDC has graduated the 9th MHLP cohort, 40 passionate leaders from 21 AU Member States. This program fosters cross-country learning and networking, equipping graduates to drive meaningful change in mental health leadership and advocacy across Africa. #AfricaReady #MentalHealthMatters

Work should enable people to live with dignity. Yet many African workers are employed in conditions where their income is not enough to adequately meet their basic needs. Insufficient wages contribute to working poverty, reinforce inequalities and limit families’ ability to improve their living conditions. We advocate for wage policies that guarantee fair and equitable remuneration, including effective mechanisms for setting and protecting minimum wages. Economic growth cannot be inclusive if workers who contribute to creating wealth do not benefit fairly from it. Decent work must enable workers and their families to live with dignity. We live in very strange times. The oldest president in the US history is sleeping, while his Secretary of Health is shaking uncontrollably, all while pushing their conspiracies about vaccines.

📊 Global unemployment: 4.9% — historically low. But informal employment is 58% of all jobs worldwide, flat since 2015. A job is not enough. #DecentWork means quality, stability, and dignity for all. ➡️More on #SDG8: — unstats.un.org/sdgs/report/2… #SDGReport #SDGs #GlobalGoals

There's no such thing as "operator error." There's: → Inadequate training → Confusing procedures → Poor interface design → High workload + time pressure → Missing feedback loops Fix the system. Not the worker.

Elon Musk could build hospitals. He could fund schools and universities. He could help eradicate diseases. Instead he uses his wealth to fuel hate.
