You're doing the clinical work brilliantly. That's not the issue. The issue is that you're trying to solve a business problem in complete isolation, with no system, no feedback, and no way to see your own blind spots. SHARE this post with someone you know who would benefit from knowing, and give it a LIKE so more people will see it That's not a personal failing. It's genuinely hard to do alone - and most counsellors are doing exactly that. Here's what changes when the isolation goes: you stop guessing and start moving. One counsellor changed ten words on her directory profile, and referrals started coming through that same week. Not because she suddenly became a marketing expert - but because someone who knew what to look for spotted the specific thing that was broken. That's what the Private Practice Success Community is built around. A structured A-Z classroom that gives you a clear next step at every stage, combined with a live community of UK therapists building alongside you - so when you get stuck, someone is actually there. When you join, you get a 15-minute 1:1 with Martin to diagnose the exact thing blocking you right now. Not a generic checklist. Others have gone from two clients to a full caseload in twelve weeks. The through-line is always the same: the right fix, found fast, because someone could see what they couldn't. Live calls and workshops mean the questions that supervision can't answer finally have somewhere to go. And the community means you're not the only one figuring this out - which turns out to matter more than most people expect. The whole thing is ยฃ7 ($9) a month. That's less than a directory listing that isn't working. There's a 7-day free trial, so there is nothing to lose!

3 Simple profile tweaks that Private Practice Counsellors can make- โ€˜Big doors swing on little hinges'- W. Clement Stone Sometimes, small things we can do can have a disproportionate effect; those small hinges can swing big doors for us.ย  When marketing your private practice, a few simple tweaks to your directory listing or website can make a big impact.ย  Here are three things that you can try today 1. Take a moment to reflect on the number of times you mention 'I' and 'Me' as opposed to 'You' in your profile or website introduction. If it's all about you and your qualifications, you might miss a crucial opportunity to connect with your prospective clients and address the issue they seek help with.ย  2. Can your website be understood by a teenager? Too many counsellor profiles and websites are written in counsellor speak. If your market is the general public, and not counsellors, looking for support then it needs to be understood by a teenager with no counselling knowledge. Try running it past teenagers, you know. Change the language to something understandable to the public.ย  3. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. A smiling, professional picture of you on the profile and website can make you more approachable and trustworthy. It should reflect the person they are going to meet once working with you. A picture taken on a smartphone is good enough, preferably taken by someone else rather than a selfie.ย  Why don't we review where you are in your Private Practice and where you would like to be? Red Velvet Cake As I left my apartment building today at 8 am, they were stocking the windows at the newest addition to Birmingham's Culinary Scene, EL&N Cafe Bar. The last thing I need as I am getting 'Beach Ready' for my holidays is cake on my doorstep! Too much of a temptation. Fortunately, they will all be sold out before I get home. It got me thinking about Red Velvet Cake, my favourite. As counsellors, we can see the market of potential clients as either a slice of cake or a BIG whole cake...stick with me here. If our appetite for clients is like a slice of cake, we can all fight over every client we get, work with every client who enquires whether they are the best client for us, and work in isolation to grab every slice we can. There is aย better alternative. What would it be like to develop a Private Counselling Practice that you love, working with the right clients while making the income you deserve? Book a free Game Plan call with me to identify how to close the gap between where you are and where you want to be in your Private Practice and discuss whether or not I can support you in getting to your goal BOOK A GAME PLAN CALLย  lnkd.in/ep6bTc-N Warmly,ย  Martin โ€“ at Birmingham, England

What is the difference between talking to a friend and talking to a therapist? Both can be really helpful, but actually the experience can be quite different. Therapy allows a safe space to discuss what is going on for you, free from judgement. #counsellingbirmingham
