Thank you, Alberta!
I’m very pleased to see the initial results from Elections Alberta show widespread support for remaining in Canada. Albertans have voted for a stronger Alberta in a united Canada.
Thank you to all Albertans who took time to vote on these critically important referendum questions.
Tomorrow evening, October 20, I will address Albertans live at 6:45 p.m. to discuss the results of all referendum questions for which results are available, and where our province goes from here.
Today I had the privilege of joining the Honourable Salma Lakhani, the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta to unveil the new plaque at the Queen’s Jubilee Garden at the Alberta Legislature.
This garden honours the legacy of her late Magesty Queen Elizabeth II and her historic reign including her Gold, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee.

I was happy to attend the Minister’s Senior Service Award Ceremony today and congratulate The Evergreens Foundation on winning the nonprofit award for their meaningful leadership and service to support seniors everyday in Hinton and providing invaluable leadership during the wildfire evacuations in Jasper in 2024.
They have made a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of seniors and older adults in West Yellowhead.
Congratulation to all the other award winners who have been making a huge difference in the lives of seniors in Alberta.

We will not tolerate illegal dumping in Alberta.
Last year Calgary alone got about 30,000 complaints about illegal dumping. Piles left on roadsides, on farmland, on private property. Illegal dumping is not a victimless crime. Somebody always pays to clean it up and it is almost never the person who did it. The people stuck with the bill are the landowners, the municipalities and the taxpayers.
This fall we are bringing in the toughest penalties in the country. Fines up to $100,000 for individuals and up to $1 million for corporations, plus jail time of up to six months.
Albertans take pride in their communities. Our laws should back that up, and our cities deserve better than this.

I was happy to take part in the ground breaking this morning for Edmonton's newest francophone school campus that will be home to two distinct grade 7-12 schools, one public and one Catholic.
This $91-million investment reflects Alberta's commitment to building the infrastructure growing communities need. Once complete, the facility will provide modern learning environments for more than 1,200 students, creating spaces where young people can learn, connect and thrive for decades to come.

Global uncertainty continues to push energy prices higher, and that’s putting more pressure on Albertans’ wallets.
Today I announced that relief is on the way. Starting Oct. 1, Alberta will suspend the full provincial fuel tax, saving Albertans 13 cents per litre on gasoline and diesel every time they fill up until the end of the year. This is practical relief that helps families, workers and businesses keep more money in their pockets.
Albertans already pay the lowest overall taxes in Canada, and this cut adds to our unmatched tax advantage.

Brooks is getting a new junior high school.
The current building went up in 1953. The new one will open with room for 720 students in grades 7 through 9 and can grow to 820 as this community keeps growing.
Thank you to Minister of Infrastructure Martin Long @MartinLongUCP for getting this over the line, and to Grasslands Public Schools for pushing for it.
Brooks kids deserve this. It is good to see it happen.
Great to join local MLA and Minister, Nathan Neudorf, and the Lethbridge Construction Association for a luncheon and discussion on the future of building in Southern Alberta. Minister Neudorf has been a constant advocate for the construction sector in Lethbridge and the surrounding area. We spoke about upcoming opportunities, the impacts of tariffs on the industry, and how government and industry can work together as stronger partners moving forward.
It was a pleasure speaking at the Building Trades of Alberta conference yesterday in Jasper.
Alberta’s skilled trades workers help build our communities, strengthen our economy, and create opportunities for families. Our government is proud to support the next generation of trades professionals through millions of dollars in investment to train and develop them. Additionally, through Budget 2026 we are investing in more than $28 billion in capital infrastructure over the next 3 years which is creating tens of thousands of jobs for skilled trades workers.
I had a great visit at Pastew Place Detox Centre in Fort McMurray and saw firsthand the compassionate care being provided to Albertans on their recovery journey. We discussed their plans to expand which would help more people access the support they need on their recovery journey closer to home.
While in Fort McMurray, I toured the Oil Sands Discovery Centre with MLA Tany Yao. It’s a place that has helped educate Albertans and visitors from around the world about the history, innovation, and resourcefulness behind Alberta’s oil sands industry. The centre showcases how the region’s “black gold” is extracted and the important role it plays in our province’s economy.

Let’s never hand this country's economy back to the 2% ever again. Those days did real damage and Canadians are still paying for them.
Canada is now following Alberta’s lead. Develop. Explore. Build the infrastructure that gets our resources to market.
The tide has turned. Let’s make the most of it.
Thank you to the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce for the thoughtful discussion on the opportunities driving the region forward and the infrastructure priorities that matter to the local businesses and residents.
With school starting this week across the province I wanted to showcase Evanston Heights School. This brand new $43 million dollar school was completed in time for students to begin using it for their first day of school.
