We extend our warmest congratulations to incoming President Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, President-elect Dr. CS Pramesh, and all members elected to the UICC Board of Directors for 2026–2028.
We are especially proud to congratulate IGCS member, Dr. Kathleen Schmeler on her re-election to the Board.

LIVE SURGERY was back at #IGCS2026! 🎥
Attendees in Montréal watched live, unedited gynecologic cancer procedures broadcast in real time from Jewish General Hospital, Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, and McGill University Health Centre.
Operating surgeons narrated their technique as they worked, walking through decision points across open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted approaches, while our expert moderators, Dr. Nadeem Abu-Rustum, Dr. Pedro Ramirez, and Dr. Christina Fotopoulou, offered running commentary and fielded questions from the audience.
A heartfelt thank you to the surgical teams and hospitals who opened their ORs to the global gynecologic oncology community. This is what learning together looks like. 💜
Amazing!! What a fun morning with colleagues and friends!!
Looking back on an incredible morning in Montréal! 🍁🏃♀️ Nearly 270 of you ran, walked, and cheered your way through the #IGCS2026 Run for Hope 5K, and together we raised $30,150 for World of Hope! 💜 Huge thanks to our team captains and to our sponsors, GOG and AstraZeneca, for making it possible. The run may be behind us, but you can still support World of Hope.🌍

Barack Obama at his last press briefing with reporters, 2017:
"I have enjoyed working with all of you. That does not, of course, mean that I've enjoyed every story that you have filed, but that's the point of this relationship. You're not supposed to be sycophants. You're supposed to be skeptics. You're supposed to ask me tough questions. You're not supposed to be complimentary, but you're supposed to cast a critical eye on folks who hold enormous power."

Vulvar cancer is one of the five main types of gynecologic cancer — but it doesn’t receive nearly enough attention.
Symptoms can include persistent itching, burning or pain, changes in the color or texture of the skin, a lump or sore, or unexplained bleeding. Too often, changes involving the vulva can be overlooked, normalized, or simply difficult to talk about.
Some vulvar cancers are associated with HPV, while others are not — another reason awareness of your own body matters.
We need to make it easier to talk openly about vulvar health. Know what is normal for you. Pay attention to changes. And don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek care when something doesn’t feel right.
This Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, help bring vulvar cancer into the conversation.

Ovarian cancer is one of the five main types of gynecologic cancer — and our understanding of how to prevent it is evolving.
We now know that many of the most common and aggressive ovarian cancers begin in the fallopian tubes. This discovery has opened new possibilities for prevention.
Removing the fallopian tubes may be considered for people at average risk who are already undergoing an unrelated abdominal or pelvic surgery, as well as some people at high genetic risk who want to delay removal of the ovaries and the surgical menopause it causes.
Knowing the signs and symptoms still matters. Persistent bloating, feeling full quickly, pelvic or abdominal discomfort, changes in bowel habits, or needing to urinate more frequently should not be ignored.
This Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, let’s raise awareness of ovarian cancer — the symptoms to know and the progress being made toward prevention.

Training one specialist can change care for thousands of women.
Through the IGCS GO Global Fellowship Program, physicians train in their own health systems with sustained mentorship from colleagues around the world — building the skills, confidence, and leadership to care for patients, strengthen local services, and train the next generation. That is how one investment in a person creates a ripple effect.
See what that investment looks like in action. Watch the IGCS' #RewritingCancer film — and help make more training possible through a gift to the World of Hope Fund.
And if you are thinking about becoming a mentor, reach out to the IGCS team to learn how!
