but there is a massive shift happening in human biology right now.
it's sitting in press releases and almost nobody reads them
the last 6 months alone:
- a once-daily pill roughly doubled median survival in metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months)
- a one-time gene editing infusion cut hereditary angioedema attacks 87%, and 62% of patients stayed attack-free and off all other prevention for 6 months
- a one-time gene edit for cholesterol dropped LDL up to 62%, and it held for over a year
- a personalized mrna vaccine beat keytruda alone in a 1,137 patient melanoma phase 3
- retatrutide hit ~28% weight loss in a phase 3
- an ai-designed drug entered phase 3
- a pill that regrows hair passed its second phase 3
- an immunotherapy that could let some rectal cancer patients skip surgery, chemo and radiation just got fda approved
- a man lived 271 days off dialysis on a pig kidney
- human cells were caught passing chromosome-sized chunks of DNA to their neighbors, and it changes how the neighbors behave
we are on the verge of an era where the human body is a software problem and the update cycle gets shorter everyday
stick around, it's going to get weird

Over the past few months, Anthropic scientists have engaged in deep research partnerships with six organizations developing new medicines. We've also begun drug discovery efforts of our own.
In doing so, we’ve learned much more about how Claude can support the many stages of drug development.
In this blog post, we share some early results from these efforts, and describe how this work fits in with our wider ambitions in the life sciences.

Neurotech is Humanity’s Next Frontier!
I’ve been investing in neurotech since 2021 and working with teams building BCIs, NeuroAI, and connectomics. It now feels like AI did in ~2019.
We are entering an extraordinary era: neurotech already restores functions, it can enhance our capabilities, and will evolve what it means to be human.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei says AI will be "better than almost all humans at almost everything" soon, and he floated 2027:
"I don't know if it'll be 2027, I think it's plausible it could be longer than that. I don't think it will be a whole bunch longer than that."
Even robotics: better AI, he says, will "enable us to make better, better, better robots."
Then he added the part people usually skip:
"How do we organize our economy? How do humans find meaning?"
2027 is now two months away.

This is honestly shocking.
Three months ago, Hong Wang was awarded the Fields Medal for resolving the Kakeya conjecture in three dimensions.
Today, OpenAI released a proposed proof of the conjecture in ALL dimensions.
And that’s not all. It also announced a proposed existence proof for quantum chromodynamics and a proposed refutation of the Exponential Time Hypothesis.
Experts say that, if confirmed, these would be Nobel prize and Turing award level discoveries respectively.
A journalist just asked me: “What remains for humans to do?”
I think it’s becoming increasingly clear that more and more problem solving will be automated.
But humans will remain crucial in determining the direction of discovery. Deciding which problems are worth solving.
Because the value of a discovery depends on our needs, our priorities and the kind of world we want to build.
There will be a shift from problem solving to problem setting.
I also think there will be huge individual differences.
People with strong critical thinking skills, creativity and imagination will be supercharged by AI.
People without those skills risk surrendering to it.
I’m particularly concerned for children, who may never develop these skills.
I think epistemic literacy - how to distinguish information from knowledge - is the single most important skill we should be teaching.

China's problem is bigger than its property crisis.
For years, answer to everything seemed to be automate more, build more factories, produce more, and let robots replace the workers China is losing.
But there's one problem with this model WHO IS GOING TO BUY ALL THOSE GOODS?
Robots can produce 24/7
They can't consume anything.
With domestic demand struggling, China is becoming more reliant on exports to absorb its industrial overcapacity.
That means more cheap Chinese goods flooding markets around the world, from the United States and Europe to India and beyond.
As trade tensions grow more countries will push back with tariffs and other trade barriers.
China can't keep expanding production indefinitely if neither its own consumers nor foreign markets can absorb the output.
China's 2008 is happening now.
Property investment in China dropped -21% YoY in the first 9 months of 2026, its largest decline for this period of the year on record.
This marks a deterioration from a -20% YoY decline in the first 8 months of 2026.
The latest drop is also significantly worse than the -16% decline recorded during the 2020 pandemic.
Property investment in China has now contracted every month since 2022, its longest declining streak on record.
For perspective, during the 2008 Financial Crisis, this figure never fell below +1% YoY growth.
China's property sector is experiencing a historic downturn.

Hospitals using AI are seeing better healthcare outcomes.
In 2023, health systems with high and low AI use had the same death rate: ~1,600 per 100,000 patients.
By 2026, the systems using AI the most dropped to ~1,000 deaths per 100,000.
That's a decline of nearly 40% in just 3 years.
Meanwhile, hospitals with lower AI adoption have seen significantly smaller improvements.
The gap in patient outcomes is widening as AI adoption accelerates.
AI is rapidly transforming healthcare.

Rumors that chili maker Lao Gan Ma laid off 500+ workers due to AI have gone viral in China.
Beneath Beijing’s positive messaging, many ordinary Chinese people are worried about AI and jobs.
Lao Gan Ma recently touted a new AI-powered chili inspection system that uses high-speed industrial cameras that significantly outperform manual inspection.
A stat about the company using this AI system to reduce human inspectors from 600 to 48 went viral on Chinese social media. The iconic, family-run company pushed back.
But if you look at the data, the company has reduced headcount from 2,912 to 740 in the past few years while earning record revenues.
