I know we'd all like it if teaching fit into 8 practices instead of 19, but this is one of those that the @TeachingWorks folks got right and make it worth having a longer list. teachingworks.org/high-lever…
Absolutely. That's one of the reasons I always refer to that RER paper: the authors worked to untangle what "inquiry" means. No surprise, a teacher can make a lesson less effective by taking too much control -- or too little!

And narrow definitions of inquiry! These paragraphs from @furtak & @DerekCBriggs et al. in doi.org/10.3102/003465431245… say a lot:

Yes, it can. I may not stay where I'm at as new servers open, or maybe I'll have two accounts like I do with Twitter.
I suspect it's no coincidence that since reading your tweet yesterday, I've seen multiple ads like this:
Of course the Rocky Ford Meloneers are in the running for a best mascot award! #edcolo koaa.com/news/covering-color…
Last day of #NCTMLA22! We've got @TheJoseVilson keynoting on short notice (and rocking it), a thank you to exiting board members, and sessions on math teacher education and data science.
Tonight's #NCTMLA22 activity...Dodgers vs Rockies! As a Coloradan I should be here for the Rockies, but honestly, I think I'm really here for the stadium.
Listening to @profnicolej deliver this year's Iris Carl address at #NCTMLA22, "Making Black Girls Count in Mathematics Education." A well-deserved honor for an outstanding scholar and advocate.
Two solid sessions this afternoon at #NCTMLA22: Ginny Stuckey to talk about @citizen_math and Mark Russo with "Catalyzing Change When Change is Hard." Delightfully, some attendees are being introduced to the Catalyzing Change book for the first time at this session.
Starting my day at #NCTMLA22 by learning about middle school detracting initiatives in North Clackamas Schools, Oregon. With Kristen Faust, Tracy Fischer, and Mary Richards.

The program committee looks like a capable group and I think we're in good hands overall, even if humanizing mathematics isn't the focus of the keynote.
The #NCTMLA22 keynote speaker is Chip Heath. Not a math educator, but a business professor with some interesting and entertaining perspectives on how numbers shape our lives.
This year's hit appears to be @pgliljedahl, who is repeating his "Building Thinking Classrooms" #NCSM22 session this morning after yesterday's session filled up.
LOOK AT ALL THESE DENNY'S! Have you ever seen so many Denny's restaurants so close together? I'm able to fit 7 on this map, and three are basically within a block from the conference site. #NCSM22
I'm mostly all business when I go to conferences, but it's hard to say no to a baseball game when one is nearby. Any other #ncsm22 folks here? – at Anaheim, CA
