Excited to share our new work in @OandNonline! 🎯 Proposing a NEW staging system for hearing loss - think "Stage 1-4" like other chronic diseases. Why? Because "moderate-to-severe sloping sensorineural hearing loss" doesn't help patients or primary care clinicians understand actual severity, urgency or next steps. Current problem: •1 in 5 adults has hearing loss •Only 20% who need hearing aids get them •Only 2-12% who qualify for cochlear implants receive one •Most people don't know hearing loss links to dementia, falls, depression Our solution: A patient-centric, prognosis-driven staging system anchored in clinical outcomes - not arbitrary decibel cutoffs.
