Age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia) isn't inevitable. Here are 3 ways to safeguard your muscle mass:
1) Consume 1.2–1.6g of protein per kg daily.
2) Lift weights 3x/week with progressive overload.
3) Prioritize 7–8 hours of quality sleep.

Your brain’s blood flow starts quietly declining years before you notice any memory slips.
-
Most people never connect the dots.
As we age, blood vessels produce less nitric oxide—the gas that keeps arteries flexible and open.
Less nitric oxide → stiffer vessels → less oxygen and nutrients reaching the brain.
That drop in circulation is one of the early drivers of age-related cognitive changes.
The good news is simple and well-studied.
In a University of Texas Southwestern study, older adults with memory concerns who did aerobic exercise for one year improved memory scores by 47% and showed increased blood flow to key memory regions of the brain.
You don’t need extreme workouts.
Consistent movement - walking, strength training, or short bursts - helps restore nitric oxide production and reopen those vessels.
Protect your brain’s blood flow starting today.
What’s one form of exercise you never skip for your mind?

Stop doing crunches for belly fat. That wiggly fat isn’t the problem.
The dangerous stuff sits deeper.
Visceral fat dumps free fatty acids and inflammatory signals straight into the portal vein that feeds your liver. Arm fat doesn’t do that.
In the Framingham Heart Study, a higher visceral-fat load raised the odds of insulin resistance about 3.5-fold.
Stronger signal than the fat you can pinch, and stronger than BMI.
Then the loop locks in:
1. Liver and muscle stop listening to insulin.
2. The pancreas pumps out more.
3. Higher insulin pushes more storage.
4. Fat spills into liver and muscle. Inflammation rises.
5. The deep fat gets worse.
This isn’t “insulin makes you gain weight.”
Sleep, food, movement, and genetics still count.
But once that deep fat turns hostile, the physiology gets harder to reverse.
Break it where it starts:
1. Lift. Muscle is an insulin sink.
2. Build meals around protein and fiber, and cut the ultra-processed load.
3. Break up sitting. Short walks beat another ab circuit.
Still trying to crunch your way out of visceral fat?
