Today appears to be #NationalGirlfriendDay, so ideally one day I'll look at a woman the way I look at this:

gonna preface a lot of future tweets and say, we at FTRS always for holding a serious coaching search instead of just hiring Key from the jump, which is what actually happened:

ALT Carter: I had a different paragraph here when we drafted this immediately after Geoff Collins was fired. Key has won over a lot of hearts and minds with Georgia Tech faithful after starting out 2-0, but barring a miraculous run (and I’m talking a true feat of coaching here, like going 6-2 at worst) I’m happier to wipe the slate clean and start over heading into 2023. It seems pretty clear Collins was holding the team and the rest of the staff back, but Georgia Tech shouldn’t settle for simply “better than Geoff Collins”.
Lose to Auburn by 1 point, lose to Kansas by 1 point, “get the fuck out.”
Can Baylor do better? Maybe, maybe not, but they aren’t settling for more mediocre seasons in this high-stakes era.
Is it not fair to expect that even a rag tag bunch of backups could avoid getting blown out at home by Boston College while allowing 400 rushing yards?

Brent key preached we wouldn’t be stopped on 3rd and short.
We would be better in the redzone.
Would be more aggressive and smart on when to go for it
All wrong
Going for 4th and inches at your own 27 is only a gamble if you assume failure.
In reality Texas punting that ball would have been a much bigger risk.

Any fans in the comments screaming Key is fired, you’re completely delusional and there is zero chance that is happening this year. And for some on the opposite spectrum saying he’ll for sure be here a “a few” years or whatever, let’s be clear…Brent will need to show massive improvement next year or there won’t be a 2028. This is a different era in college sports and this admin is investing a ton in the program. It must be better next year, all of it.

Brent Key quote from the Spring
“But I'll be damned if I sit out there again and watch on third and one, all right, or first and goal on the five, not be able to convert the first down or get the ball in the end zone, boys.”
6 consecutive games of FBS football without forcing a turnover on defense.
2 turnovers forced by the defense in the last 11 FBS games.
Last time forcing multiple turnovers in a FBS game - Sept. 13, 2025 vs Clemson.
There are a lot of problems that aren’t fixable in ‘26. Is what it is.
But if you don’t figure out two things in 2027 - things that have been an issue since Brent Key was hired - nothing is going to matter.
1) Touchdowns, not FGs, in the red zone
2) Forcing turnovers on defense
Serious programs don’t lose 4 out of 5 to Boston College, which GT now has, and they’re lucky it isn’t 5 in a row.
GT hasn’t beaten BC at home since 2012.
All season you’ve needed one tipped ball, one gust from the gods, so naturally it’s BC who gets an INT off of a wide receiver’s bicep.
When is that big turnover going to come?
It hasn’t all year. Forget one of those days where you go +3 or +4 and the floodgates open.
You can’t even get 1, and you have to get that one at some point today to win, IMO.
I guess you do kick there for the halftime lead, but that’s two trips inside the 5 ending in field goals in addition to the 2nd and 1, 3rd and 1, 4th and 1 sequence that ended in a punt.
7 games in, you can’t do that and expect to have a shot to go on a November run.
Brent Key is fine. Good program builder, average game day coach.
But ever consider he may have appeared to be THE GUY merely because of Geoff Collins?
I’m not a strong swimmer. But I’d be THE GUY as a swimmer compared to a dead body floating in a river.

On the one inch line.
3rd and 1 the following drive.
Neither worked
Know where the 1st down is. Allen trying to make a play has the first down, cuts outside, that becomes a 3rd and 1, then a 4th and 1, then a punt, then a 12-10 BC lead.
Inches away from a 14-0 GT lead minutes earlier.
The team constantly crushes its own margin for error.
3rd & goal on the 6-inch-line becoming a field goal after two penalties is something to watch if this is a Score-a-Thon.
That’s 4 points lost on what is an automatic TD without the false start.
