During a private conversation, my girlfriend asked whether I'd ever consider an unconventional relationship arrangement.
We were sitting on my couch when she suddenly asked me a question.
Girlfriend: “Baby, can I ask you something without you getting angry?”
Me: “That depends. What have you done?”
She laughed nervously.
Girlfriend: “I'm serious. Would you ever agree to something unusual if it meant solving a major financial problem?”
Me: “What kind of unusual thing are we talking about?”
Girlfriend: “Suppose someone offered me a lot of money to pretend to be his wife for a few days. Would you be okay with it?”
I laughed because I thought she was joking.
Me: “Wait, someone wants to rent my girlfriend as a wife? Where do people find these ideas?”
She didn't laugh.
Girlfriend: “I'm not joking.”
My smile disappeared.
Me: “Who made you that offer?”
Girlfriend: “Someone we know. He needs a woman to pretend to marry him for a few days. It's an arrangement, not a real marriage.”
Me: “And why would he choose you?”
Girlfriend: “Because he trusts me, and he knows I need money.”
Me: “What does he need a fake wife for? And what happens after those few days?”
She looked down at her hands.
Girlfriend: “He says the arrangement is temporary. He'll pay me, and then I'll come back to my normal life.”
Me: “Have you agreed to this already?”
She didn't answer immediately.
That silence told me everything.
Me: “You have, haven't you?”
She nodded.
I stood up and walked across the room.
Me: “You accepted an offer to pretend to marry another man before even telling me?”
Girlfriend: “Baby, please listen to me.”
Me: “What exactly am I supposed to listen to? You're telling me you're going to marry another man for money!

Being loyal to a company nearly cost me my future.
I used to believe that if I worked hard, stayed committed, and made myself valuable, the company would eventually reward me.
So I kept making sacrifices.
I worked late when deadlines were tight. I accepted responsibilities that weren't part of my job. I postponed personal plans because the team needed me. Whenever management promised that things would improve, I believed them.
First, I was told to be patient until the next quarter.
Then it was the next promotion cycle.
Then the company was going through a difficult period, and everyone had to make sacrifices.
There was always a reason why my own reward had to wait.
Meanwhile, my responsibilities kept increasing, but my salary and position remained the same.
The moment that opened my eyes was when a colleague with less experience joined the team and received a better offer for doing work I had been handling for months.
I wasn't angry with him. He had negotiated his worth.
I was angry with myself for assuming that loyalty alone would make people recognise mine.
That evening, I went home and updated my CV. I started applying for jobs, revisiting technologies I had neglected, and reconnecting with people in my industry.
For the first time in a long while, I started making plans that didn't depend on my employer's promises.
I eventually understood something painful: while I was busy proving that the company could depend on me, I had stopped investing enough in my own future.
I still believe in commitment and doing good work.
But I no longer confuse being a loyal employee with putting my entire future in someone else's hands.

A woman left the man who supported her through six years of university because she said she no longer loved him.
When they met, he was working two jobs to pay his bills. She came from a struggling family, and he helped her pay tuition, buy textbooks, and cover rent whenever her money ran out.

FIVE MONTHS LATER, KEVIN DISCOVERED HE WAS PREGNANT
Kevin was a 28 year old man who had always believed his life was normal. He worked hard, took care of his family, and never imagined that one day he would become the center of a mystery that would shock everyone around him.
Five months earlier, Kevin had experienced something strange. He began feeling unusually tired, suffering from morning sickness, and experiencing changes in his body. At first, he blamed stress and exhaustion.
But when the symptoms continued, he decided to visit a hospital.
After running several tests, the doctor asked him to sit down.
“Mr. Kevin, we need to talk about your results.”
Kevin swallowed nervously. “Doctor, is something wrong with me?”
The doctor looked at the report, then back at him.
“Your test results indicate pregnancy.”
Kevin burst into nervous laughter.
“Doctor, I'm a man! How can I possibly be pregnant?”
The doctor remained serious.
“I understand your confusion, but we need to investigate these results further. There may be an error, or another medical condition could explain them.”
Kevin left the hospital with a thousand questions racing through his mind.
How could a test possibly say that a man was pregnant?
That evening, he told his wife, Sarah, everything.
She stared at him in disbelief.
“Kevin, this doesn't make any sense. We need to go back to the hospital and find out what's really happening.”
The following morning, they returned together.
After reviewing the results, the doctor discovered that Kevin's symptoms and initial test required further investigation. The original result alone could not establish pregnancy, and additional examinations were necessary to determine what was happening.
Then the doctor asked Kevin a question that made Sarah turn pale.
“Mr. Kevin, have you ever been told that you have an unusual medical condition?”
Kevin shook his head.
“No, Doctor. Why are you asking me that?”
The doctor took a deep breath.
“Because there is something in your medical history that we need to investigate immediately.”
Sarah grabbed Kevin's hand.
“What is it, Doctor? Please tell us!”
The doctor opened another file and turned it toward them.
Kevin stared at the document, his eyes widening.
The name written on the report belonged to someone Kevin had believed was dead for fifteen years.
He slowly looked at his wife.
“Sarah… what does my late father's name have to do with my medical results?”
Sarah began to cry.
Because she knew a secret about Kevin's family that he had never discovered.
And the truth was about to change his entire life.

His eyes moved down the screen.
Doctor: “Who documented this?”
