Sabres tie the game with a greasy one. Looks like Noah Ostlund is going to get credit for the goal. 3-3. "Let's go Buffalo!" chants ringing out in D.C. again.

Alex Tuch's centering pass deflects off Tage Thompson's stick and into Buffalo's net. Tuch to Thompson just like old times. Capitals cut the Sabres' lead to 2-1.

There was just a loud,"Let's go Buffalo!" chant at Capital One Arena. Sabres fans are well represented in the nation's capital tonight.

Sabres go up 2-0 on a goal from Josh Doan. Nice forecheck from Konsta Helenius to create a loose puck, and Ryan McLeod set up Doan for the goal.

Jack Quinn opens the scoring for the Sabres. Great play by Zellweger to find him. Sabres have had tons of o-zone time early in this game.

“Up until the day I got traded and signed with Washington, I thought I was going to be a Sabre for life." Alex Tuch is getting set to face the Sabres for the first time since signing in Washington this summer. I caught up with Tuch earlier this week to talk about that and a lot more. Jiri Kulich is not with the Sabres in Washington. He is going through some more testing in Buffalo. There’s still a chance he could join the team later in the trip. Alex Lyon did not join the team on the road. Colten Ellis will likely get a game in California, Lindy Ruff said.

Winnipeg getting a scoring winger in Dawson Mercer leads me to believe the Sabres would have needed to include Jack Quinn in the deal to get Hellebuyck on top of some other good assets. That wouldn't have been easy to do given Buffalo's lack of scoring wingers right now.
