If you’re someone who needs to relearn this:
The “Nakba” story dies on this primary source leaflet dated April 28, 1948.
The Haifa Workers Council and the Histadrut printed it and told the city’s Arabs not to leave.
“Do not destroy your homes with your own hands ... The gates are open for work, for life, and for peace, for you and your families.”
That week, British police in Haifa had reported the same thing. Jews were trying to keep shops open and to guarantee Arab lives and property. Ben-Gurion sent Golda Meir to say it to Haifa’s Arab residents face-to-face. Tens of thousands of them left anyway.
“Nakba” first named the Arab failure to destroy the Jewish state. Later it was rebranded as a Jewish expulsion order. Look to Haifa and test that theory. There was no order to get out. There was a printed appeal to stay in multiple languages.
The Arab Higher Committee called anyone who remained under Jewish protection a “renegade.” Its chairman, Jamal Husseini, told the Security Council the Arabs “preferred to abandon their homes, their belongings, and everything they possessed in the world and leave the town.”
Most of Haifa’s 62,000 Arab residents walked out. A few thousand stayed. They became citizens of the new state, and today their grandchildren vote in Israel.
The expulsion story requires this page not to exist.
To paraphrase Milton Friedman, Swedes are very comfortable and happy in America too.
Hi. 😊 Swedish dude here.
When our children get sick, we have 60 paid days per year to stay home with them.
Per parent.
They're separate from my 25 paid vacation days.
Meaning I don't have to use my own paid sick leave.
If I'm a single parent: 120 days.
If my child has a chronic illness: 120 days
If my child is hospitalized: unlimited days.
These days reset every January.
By law. every year until child is 18.

Humanitarian aid? No, just staged Gazan propaganda.
Telling and humorous that this Canadian poster thinks GDP is funneled “into” profits, rather than the other way around.
Replying to @ryangerritsen
GDP per person has almost no correlation to standard of living. Especially in highly unequal societies like the US where a massive share of the GDP is funneled into corporate profits and to the ultra rich.

The Left used to root for Israel, the plucky underdog of would-be socialists.
Gradually, Israel became strong. Rich & powerful with civilizational confidence the rest of the West seems to have lost.
Now the Left hates Israel.
That’s basically all it is.
Kind of a Sabermetrics philosophy applied to college admissions. I like it.
This is a brilliant idea:
"A student’s transcript would show two overall grade-point averages. Next to the traditional GPA will appear a second number that adjusts course grades based on the median grade in each class. A student who earns an A in a course where the median grade is also an A would receive less of a boost than one who earns an A in a tougher course. If a student filled his schedule with easy-A classes, his transcript might show a traditional GPA of 4.0 and an adjusted GPA of 2.7. This large difference communicates that the student’s traditional GPA overstates his academic performance."
Maybe your underlying assumption that the Spectator is “far right”, rather than just “right” is invalid.
Is there any “right” that isn’t “far right” to these people?
It seems the Left believes that the price for the sin of slavery - the only uniquely Western contribution to which was to end it - is that the entirety of Western Civilization should collapse.
When you zoom out from all the madness of this or that issue, that’s what they think.
Why are tea and coffee brewed using such different techniques when really, they’re both just running hot water through ground plant parts?
Has there ever been a product, commodity, or service that has existed and been available for 15 years, and that has zero demonstrated utility?
Like it or not, this is Bitcoin today.

It didn't fail to reflect the gravity of the situation. It failed to accurately communicate who was responsible, who the intended victims were and where the blame for the attempted terrorist attack lay. In other words you didn't accidentally downplay the seriousness of it, you deliberately misrepresented what happened to conceal the truth from the public.
I haven’t seen or heard any discussion of direct-energy weapons being used against the Ayatollah’s missiles & drones.
They were demoed during the Gaza War, but does anyone know if either Israel or the U.S. is deploying them?

Congress is the deliberative body that prevents narcissistic imbeciles from unilaterally enacting idiotic policies that harm the country. That is the actual, real-life meaning of the decision.
How about a compromise agreement:
1. Dem governors agree to help ICE locate and apprehend illegals.
2. ICE will not roam the neighborhoods looking for them.

The left has become deeply Palestinian. The playbook is to do completely anti-social/illegal/contemptible nonsense and then create agitprop out of a predictable and entirely legitimate response by the forces of civilization.
Take a moment to look at the inhumanity captured in this extraordinary photo running on the front page of tonight's Minneapolis @StarTribune. It shows federal immigration agents immobilizing a protester on the ground and spraying chemical irritant directly into his face. The scene reminds me of the brutality used against civil rights protesters in the 1960s. We look back at those old photos and wonder how the authorities could have behaved so savagely; many years from now, young Americans will look at these photos from 2026 and wonder how anyone could have justified shooting a woman in the head as she tried to drive away, arresting 5-year-old schoolchildren on the street, or holding a man down and spaying chemicals into his face. Thanks to the Star Tribune reporters and photographers for documenting this work; they create accountability, they make democracy work, and they make all of us in journalism proud.
