Two things we can be sure of on today’s $Meta earnings call: 1) Muse has not had the time or penetration to have any measurable impact on revenue yet, and 2) Meta will almost certainly find a way to say that it has. #meta #muse

Is waiting two years for equity to vest now for suckers? Boutique recruiting firms are popping up everywhere full of “former operators ready to build your GTM Machine”. Seems staffing is the new/faster road to a piece of the exit pie @thedealdirector

1) My take on playbook orgs (multi-tweet) as someone who has worked for them and now works for a hyperscaler. At its core, this debate is about what xAI and OpenAI want to be. Playbook sales is a proven way to get net new logo ARR deals and it DOES WORK. No denying that.

3) At this scale, terms like “multi-threading” mean something totally different. It’s not a $1M deal when your avg deal size is $200k. At tens-to-hundreds of millions of dollars (or more) it’s not uncommon for an Account Director to be coordinating across 100+ people.

8) So does playbook sales work? Yes. Does it build great habits and operational rigor? Yes. But it over-indexes for companies looking for net-new ARR for a SaaS price tag, and that’s not a motion companies looking to change the world can afford to waste time on

2) But once you’ve worked a truly transformational deal above a certain dollar amount (pick a number… $10M? $25M?) you realize that this type of sales requires a totally incremental level of attention/time/energy. It’s Nation Building.

The biggest problem I see with Salesforce as a hub for agentic AI is that at every company I’ve ever worked for, or alongside, the data in Salesforce falls somewhere on the spectrum between ‘chaotic mess’ and ‘completely fake & generated for optics.’

It’s collective denial across all levels of GTM orgs everywhere. Any acknowledgment of bad data in #SFDC is putting one’s own place in the bread line at risk - it is quickly spun back on the individual: “is your orgs data messy? That’s unacceptable…”

So long as context is everything in AI, there exists a paradox whereby Salesforce’s agents can only ever be useful within the confines of the window dressing that is an enterprise’s Salesforce instance.

SaaS that calls an LLM to execute a function is still SaaS. I’m not sure how many people are willing to come to grips with that.
