11 January marks the birth of Maurice Duruflé, whose small œuvre is crowned by his Requiem. Said by his wife to have “une âme gregorienne” (a Gregorian soul), here is an extract from the Kyrie, performed live in concert by the Choir of @Buckfast_Abbey and the Southern Sinfonia.

On Saturday 2nd November, the Abbey Choir was joined by the Southern Sinfonia for a performance of Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem. In the first half of the concert, Charles Maxtone-Smith played Francis Poulenc’s Organ Concerto.
