I spoke exclusively to Nigeria’s Health Minister about the current Ebola outbreak and the first case in the country. He told me the patient is “stable” & “improving”, is not Nigerian, spent 2+ weeks in Kampala and flew to Abuja via Addis Ababa. More here: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c62k…

Today is my last day as Africa Correspondent for the BBC in Johannesburg. My posting has been localised as part of the BBC’s savings cuts and I’m moving back to London. The last 8 years spent reporting on the continent have been the pride of my life. As a little girl in the Ivory

My role is being localised as part of the BBC's savings cuts. If you're a journalist with the right to work in SA do apply. It's a great job working with a fantastic team. careers.bbc.co.uk/job/Africa…

This week, @YouTube has officially confirmed that, following our request, it has completed the global removal of around 600 videos that promoted Alabuga and ran recruitment content for the plant. The videos were posted on hundreds of channels with over 500 million subscribers (total). Alabuga, a sanctioned Russian factory, which produces drones to kill Ukrainian civilians, has no place on global streaming platforms and we warmly welcome this decision and thank @Google for cooperation. This outcome was not achieved by governments alone. It was driven by a coalition of people who refused to let this pass unnoticed. I want to thank @JesusAVGN (Alexei Gubanov), whose work first exposed these integrations and mapped the networks behind them; @michaelnacke; @nadyariot and her team John Caldwell and Christian Carino, who have supported this campaign. Special thanks to the Cyberdepartment of the Security Service of Ukraine @ServiceSsu for their excellent work. The work does not end with removals. We will be now pursuing sanctions against individual bloggers who accepted payment to promote a sanctioned weapons manufacturer to millions of viewers. Knowingly advertising a plant that builds the drones killing Ukrainians is not a content decision. It carries consequences. We call on all other major platforms to act with the same resolve. The recruitment campaign still tries to operate across many services at once. We remain ready to work with any platform to stop the killings of Ukrainian civilians.
