This footage shared by a new mother is very hard to watch. ⚠️ She says it was recorded the day she came home from hospital after giving birth to her son. That should have been one of the happiest days of her life, instead she was exhausted, still healing, holding her newborn, and being threatened. Thankfully she and her son are now safe, but many women are still living with this behind closed doors, trapped by the mental and physical control that comes with domestic abuse. In one year, around 2.2 million women in England and Wales experienced domestic abuse. Police recorded 816,493 domestic abuse-related crimes, 15.4% of all recorded crime. And it's not just physical violence. Threats, intimidation, being called names and being controlled are all abuse too. October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month.
