The issues & lack of communication about K12 to parents a year ago is what prompted @AmandaPrietoEdD to start this group!
We now have 1400+ #MDCPSParents sharing resources, info on @MDVirtualSchool, & advocacy to inform & engage parents in a supportive parent-led group.
#OneYearAgoToday: During this ongoing #pandemic - this date - August 31, 2020 is etched in memory. The unprecedented start to that school year began with a glitchy platform, teachers going rouge via Zoom to instruct their students (🙏), and parents feeling, well, 🥴. ▶️ #history
So disappointing. Our school board members should serve as respected role models for our children and reflect the values we teach in our public education system. We need accountability and transparency on this, swiftly. #MDCPSParents

The same @MDCPS school district that honored Nilo Cruz is now keeping students from seeing (for free) the historic work that won him the Pulitzer Prize.
Since 2003, previous generations had the chance to see Anna in the Tropics but now it is apparently no longer age appropriate.
NEW from @fabiolasantiago: Miami-Dade County Public School’s Division of Academics is refusing to allow high school students to attend Nilo Cruz’s Pulitzer Prize-winning work “Anna in the Tropics.”
Why the rejection? The school district’s not saying. miamiherald.com/news/local/n…
