Today, The Scottish Government announced that they have REFUSED plans to develop a golf course at Coul Links in Sutherland. This fragile landscape is home to some of our rarest and most threatened wildlife, so this a huge win for nature!
"This is our chance. We need to generate enough energy before the 29th to demand Andy Burnham step in and block the Thames Water bailout and take Thames Water into Special Admin."

How about this government stops the obscenely excessive housing targets and the hundreds of AI data centres to be built so there’ll be enough water for everyone, the environment and our firefighters? Or is that too simple @andyburnham ?

Nuclear power. The costs are staggering. Absolutely staggering.
Read this and prepare to weep: 'From HS2 to Hinkley, Britain's most staggeringly expensive construction projects rated'.
"Somerset’s Hinkley Point C...is overdue and over budget, but may come online by 2030 at a cost of £31–34bn."
"Meanwhile, Suffolk’s Sizewell C is due to set the UK back at least £40bn."
"Contracts entered into by previous governments mean the power stations will produce electricity that is much more expensive than from wind or solar."
Too slow. Too costly.

Passenger charges are currently £28 . They'll rise up to £65 after expansion.
At what is already the world’s most expensive airport.
Every airline says it’s unaffordable. Listen to them.

A green light for the Jackdaw gas field isn't the end of the matter
Far from it
Now we must make sure that the much worse Rosebank oil field doesn't see the light of day
Please listen to my @StopCambo call to @andyburnham to leave the Rosebank oil in the ground
Nearly 20,000 people have signed this petition in just a few days 🎉🥳✊
6 DAYS TO GO until Thames Water creditors meet to approve yet ANOTHER bailout
@andyburnham said in June that public ownership is "what should happen" for Thames Water
Step in, now

We’re pleased that permission has been refused for the extension of a quarry on common land, at Trefil common, outside the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park in Blaenau Gwent. The application for the proposed extension was ill-prepared and ill-researched: bit.ly/4siYVVY

The Government has until the end of the year to scrap the NHS-Palantir deal.
Do you want Palantir out of the NHS?
RT if you do.
Lets get them out.
'Cllr Chloe Turner, Green leader of Stroud District Council, described the changes as “the latest shocking attack on local democracy in the planning world”.
She added: “This loss of local democracy, community expertise and community voice is really disturbing.”'

This is the great irony of British privatisation. We were told the state should not own strategic infrastructure.
So we sold it.
Then foreign states, sovereign wealth funds and state-linked companies bought stakes in the very assets we had decided our own state should not own.
Chinese investors have held stakes in Heathrow and Thames Water. Chinese-linked companies bought major utility assets and became involved in UK nuclear power.
So perhaps the question was never:
“State ownership or private ownership?”
It was: whose state owns it, who gets the returns, and whose national interest is ultimately being served?
Britain did not abolish state ownership, it simply outsourced it.
Almost £200 billion of British infrastructure is now owned by Beijing-linked firms.
Energy, schools, even asylum hotels, sold under governments who promised sovereignty.
This is what post-Brexit freedom looks like: a fire sale.
⚙️ What China 🇨🇳 owns
•Hinkley Point C nuclear plant – £13.15 billion stake
•Heathrow Airport – £22.03 billion
•Inch Cape Wind Farm – £1.75 billion
•Multiple City of London office blocks bringing in tens of millions in rent each year
•Private schools, ports, power stations, and hotels, part of an investment web tied to Beijing-controlled firms and state-backed funds.

A massive data centre is currently seeking planning permission in Keswick, Norfolk. Whilst it’s outside of Norwich South, hundreds of my constituents have reached out to me expressing their opposition to the proposal. I share their concerns.
Stacking a 20-metre building across 32 acres is far too big for a rural entrance to the city, right on the edge of Marston Marsh. The constant noise, heat, and lighting threaten protected wildlife areas and nearby marshlands.
I also agree with my South Norfolk colleague Ben Goldsborough MP about the potential heat island effect. A site this large risks raising local temperatures, causing damage that cannot be fixed or offset, so it mustn't be allowed to go ahead.
Data centres are part of modern life. But that doesn’t mean developers should get a free hand. Any major proposal needs plain, transparent answers on water use, power demand, true company ownership, and realistic claims about future impacts.
Planning authorities must properly consider solid grounds for refusal, from water shortages to the impact on local school children, and push for direct community investment in jobs and skills. I urge South Norfolk Council to do so here.

The number of jobs it will support: 27
The net cost of Jackdaw & Rosebank to our economy: at least £90 billion.
