Today marks one month since the body of a woman was discovered in Stanley Park. As enquiries continue, Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson is making a renewed appeal for information and sharing new details that could help identify the woman. At around 5.25pm on Friday 28 August, officers were called after a member of the public discovered a black bin bag in bushes within the park's walled garden. Officers attended and sadly found the body of the woman. It is believed she had been there for several weeks, possibly since early July. The woman was white, approximately 5ft 2in tall and of slight build and was found wearing a pink Nike T-shirt. Further enquiries have revealed: ▪ The woman had no teeth, meaning dental records have not been available to assist with identification. ▪ She suffered from osteoporosis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and arthritis in her hands. ▪ She was malnourished, although it has not been possible to determine whether this was linked to her age or neglect. ▪ We have also expanded our enquiries to investigate reports of women aged between 60 and 80. We hope that details about the woman's medical conditions may help someone recognise her and come forward. Do you know someone matching this description who has not been seen for several weeks? This could be a family member, friend, neighbour or someone from your local community. Our enquiries remain ongoing and to date the occupants of nearly 900 properties have been spoken to and 126 women have been eliminated from our enquiries after concerns were raised for people matching the description of the woman. If you have any information, no matter how big or small. please contact us via: 📱 Social media: @merpolCC 💻 Website: orlo.uk/WaOCh 📞 Call 101, quoting reference 26000706383 You can also submit images or footage directly to the investigation team through our dedicated Public Portal: orlo.uk/nFZK0 If you would prefer not to speak to police directly, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. 🗣️ "32 years have passed and there has been no justice for Julie." Julie Finley was 23 when she disappeared from Liverpool city centre on Friday 5 August 1994. The following day her naked body was discovered in a field close to the Wheatsheaf Hotel near the A570 Rainford Bypass. She had been strangled. Since her death we have carried out extensive lines of enquiries, spoken to dozens of potential witnesses and trawled hundreds of hours of CCTV footage to catch her killer. This morning, Detective Inspector Samantha Davies appeared on @BBC Crimewatch Live appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The appeal contains a reconstruction that was filmed by the BBC back in the 1990s, which reflects the Liverpool skyline as it was then, in a bid to jog people’s memories. Detective Inspector Davies said 🗣️ “What we do know is that on Friday 5 August 1994 Julie went to her parent’s house in Dovecot where she spent time with her mum and sister. She then returned to her flat, which was off Falkner Square in Liverpool, where she spent time with her boyfriend and another friend. “She left the flat at around 10pm and headed into Liverpool city centre. At around 10.30pm she saw a friend on Grove Street and mentioned she was meeting someone at 11pm. There was later a suspected sighting of Julie on Crown Street after a woman matching her description was seen to run across the road towards a male. That male has never been identified. “The last confirmed sighting of Julie was at 11.45pm outside the former Stag’s Head pub on Pembroke Place. Her body was found the following morning some distance away in Rainford so we know she must have been taken there in a vehicle. “Witnesses at the time reported seeing a white Transit van parked in the layby off the Rainford bypass. We have not been able to identity the van or who was driving. “My appeal is to anyone who thinks they saw Julie on that evening, has information about the male she was seen with on Crown Street or knows who was driving the white van to come forward. “It may be three decades since Julie’s death but our investigation remains active and we will follow up any new lines of enquiry and consider any advances in forensic work such as DNA. “Julie’s family deserve to know that her killer has been caught and is behind bars.” 🩵 In a tribute, Julie's family said: "Julie was only 23 when she was murdered. She was my second oldest child and growing up she was the perfect daughter. She went to college and studied hairdressing. "32 years have passed and there has been no justice for Julie. Her father, my husband Albie, died without ever seeing justice. He died with a broken heart. "Julie and I had a great relationship, and I miss her every day. I always think about the life she could have had, she might have been married with her own children. "As a family we have waited far too long to find out who killed Julie." ⏩ An enhanced Crimestoppers reward of £20,000 is also being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Julie’s murder. 📺 You can catch up on the episode on BBC iPlayer now. 🚨 Have any information? Some of our patrols are #ProjectServator deployments – you may have seen them in recent days at @Liverpool_ONE, @SGHLpool and at other locations including Southport. The deployments are different from normal police operations, and if you see one, don't worry – it's all about keeping you safe. Although the deployments are highly visible, they do consist of plain clothes officers. All the officers are specially trained, and they will keep an eye out for tell-tale signs that someone may have criminal intent such as gathering information to help them plan or prepare to commit a crime. During deployments, the officers will also speak with members of the public and security staff to encourage the reporting of suspicious activity. The aim is to build a network of vigilance, disrupt criminality, including terrorism, and provide a reassuring presence to the public. Everyone can play a part in keeping our communities safe – if you see something that doesn't feel right, report it to staff, security or a police officer, or call 101. Remember, you can also report anonymously at gov.uk/ACT or call 0800 789 321. #ActionCountersTerrorism In an emergency, always call 999. 🚨 We are urging the public to be vigilant as we have been made aware that people have received calls from scammers purporting to be Merseyside Police and asking for payment over the phone. It was reported the calls appeared to be from a genuine Merseyside Police switchboard number, 0151 709 6010, but that the offenders had likely used caller ID spoofing. Most identified it as a scam and did not disclose sensitive information, but one caller did transfer a significant quantity of money. 👉 The offenders claimed to be officers or Cyber Crime officers from Merseyside Police and claimed someone had been arrested with the victim's ID, passport or personal details; that the victim was linked to a cyber crime investigation; that property had been seized during police riads containing the victim’s details and that cryptocurrency accounts had been compromised. Using fake officer names, collar numbers and crime references, the offenders asked questions in an effort to extract information about cryptocurrency held, banking arrangements, personal details and online accounts. An investigation is underway and CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out into the incidents. Remember, the police will never ⬇️ ❌ Ask you to move money ❌ Ask for passwords ❌ Ask for your bank account details Never provide personal details to the person on the phone if you have any doubts over who is calling you. If you suspect someone is impersonating a police officer please contact us. Anyone with information which could assist the investigation should message us on social media @MerPolCC quoting reference number 919 of 12 October. 🚨 Fraud crime prevention advice can be found on the Merseyside Police website, or on the Report Fraud site at: orlo.uk/LvDj9 You can report fraud to us here: orlo.uk/DNLtI

We have released a CCTV image of a man who could have information following a serious assault in Liverpool city centre earlier this month. On Sunday 4 October at around 5.30am, it was reported that a man punched two other males, both aged in their 20s, in Concert Square. One of the men required hospital treatment for a fractured skull and he has since been discharged. The second victim suffered minor facial injuries. An investigation has been ongoing since the incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Detective Inspector Lee Egerton said: “This was a nasty and completely unprovoked assault that left a man with a serious head injury. “We are determined to find the person responsible and would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault to come forward. “If you recognise the man in this image, please let us know as we believe he could have information about what happened.” Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X or Facebook @MerPolCC with reference number 26000814093. Today, we are releasing new CCTV footage showing four males who we believe could have information about the murder of Sam Rimmer. It shows them next to a playground off Cockburn Street, in Dingle, at 10.30pm on Thursday 16 August 2022, which is around an hour and ten minutes before Sam was shot. Although it’s dark and the males are wearing face coverings, detectives believe they are acting suspiciously and could be in possession of a possible firearm. We hope by releasing this footage that it could jog someone’s memory who saw them on this date or potentially knows who they are and could come forward with information. Sam was shot at around 11.40pm on Lavrock Bank, in Dingle, when two electric bikes drove into the cul-de-sac and fired a number of shots towards him and other males. As a result, 22-year-old Sam was injured and despite the best efforts of officers and ambulance staff he was sadly pronounced dead a short while later at hospital. So far, ten people have been arrested in relation to the murder of Sam, but no one has been charged. Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information that leads to the conviction of anyone involved in the murder. Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, said 🗣️ “This footage shows four males who we are looking to speak to in connection with Sam’s murder. “I believe from viewing the footage that they are potentially in possession of a firearm and we continue to carry out extensive enquiries to find these individuals. “I appreciate no one is going to recognise the faces of the males by watching the CCTV, but we hope that it could jog someone’s memory who knows the males by their clothing or use of the bikes in the location from around that time. “I want to reassure them, and the wider community in Dingle, that we are still just as determined to find the people responsible for Sam’s murder as we were four years ago. As part of our investigation we have made a number of arrests and received a lot of information from the public. We just need the final piece of the puzzle. “I’d like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who holds any information whatsoever to get in touch. It’s not too late. We are certain that someone out there knows who is responsible and could end the family’s agonising wait for answers." 🚨 Anyone with information should contact us on social media @MerPolCC. #JAILED | This is Daniel Scott Ingram. Yesterday he was jailed for 23 years for non-recent sex offences after being found guilty of 13 counts of rape and six counts of sexual assault. Ingram committed his offences against a girl between 2000 and 2014. As well as 23 years in prison, 38-year-old Ingram, of Beckwith Street, Birkenhead was issued with a further seven years on extended licence, a lifetime restraining order, an indefinite Sex Offender Notification order and ordered to pay a victim's surcharge and collection order. You can read an extract of the woman's Victim Person Statement here 🗣️ “It’s extremely difficult to put into words how this has all impacted me because 99% of the time I try to put it in a box in the back of my mind and pretend it wasn’t me. Denial has been my automatic response for so long because facing the reality was just too hard. I hoped that if I buried my thoughts deep enough, they’d go away but what you did to me is unfortunately never far away. “You were a monster. You groomed me. You manipulated me. You exploited my trust and preyed on my innocence and vulnerability to make me into the perfect play thing that you could manipulate as you pleased. You stole my innocence from me. “I’ve come to realise that there’s no escape from your own mind and I’m emotionally exhausted being forever on my guard, not being able to allow myself to enjoy things for fear that something might happen. Even those moments that are meant to fill you with joy, mine are mostly filled with fear. You have not only taken away my childhood, but you also continue to take away parts of my adult life. “This is the first step of my healing because I have faced you and made people aware of what kind of monster you are.” Ingram thought he could get away with it, deny what happened and force the victim to go through the ordeal of a trial. Thankfully, a jury saw through his lies and he will now serve a lengthy prison sentence for his deprived actions. We sincerely hope that his sentencing can bring some comfort to the woman who is still living with the trauma to this day. With these types of investigations, our specialist team is here to support victims with sensitivity and compassion, every step of the way, from the initial report through to court proceedings. We would continue to urge anyone who is a victim of any form of sexual abuse to please report this to police, or through our partner agencies 💙 We take all such reports extremely seriously, and in addition, work with partner organisations such as Victim care Support Service and RASA who are there to support victims of this crime. 🚨 To report a sexual offence you can call 101, where you will be spoken to by specially trained officers or you can pass information to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always call 999. If you have been a victim of sexual offences, you can access specialist support services, which are free of charge and available to anyone. These services can support you in a variety of ways, including offering a confidential discussion if you are thinking of making a police report, but are unsure what that involves and would like to discuss it. Do you know who the three males in this CCTV clip are? Today, we are releasing footage showing three males who could have information in connection with the murder of Ellis Cox. This has never been released to the public before. Although they are wearing face coverings, we hope it could jog someone's memory who saw them on this date or potentially knows who they are and could come forward with information. Even the smallest of details could be vital to our ongoing investigation. The footage was captured at 9.24pm on Sunday 23 June 2024, which was around an hour and a half before Ellis was shot. It shows a male on a bike and two males on a second bike as they turn into Walton Hall Park from Walton Hall Avenue. Emergency services were called to the Liver Industrial Estate just after 11.10pm following reports that a 19-year-old man, now known to be Ellis, had been shot. He was taken to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. So far, ten people have been arrested in connection to the murder, but no one has been charged yet. A reward of £100,000 is currently on offer for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder. It is made up of £20,000 from Crimestoppers and Ellis’ family have raised an additional £80,000. Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, the Senior Investigating Officer, said 🗣️ “We are releasing this footage as part of our ongoing investigation into the murder of Ellis Cox. We are just as determined as we were two years ago to find the people responsible. “I appreciate no one is going to recognise the faces of the three males by watching the CCTV, but we hope that it could jog someone’s memory who knows the males by their clothing or use of the bikes in the location from around that time. “We believe the males in this video could have information to assist our inquiries. They were seen to ride into Walton Hall Park around an hour and a half before Ellis was shot at the Liver Industrial Estate. “I’d like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who holds any information whatsoever to get in touch. It’s not too late. We are certain that someone out there knows who is responsible and could end the family’s agonising wait for answers. “If anyone out there is keeping information to themselves, I ask you to consider what Ellis’s family are going through.
