Does giving vtubers metal/scream debuts count as innovating? 👀✨
There’s people doing cool shit everywhere you just need to look. Lots of cool corpo and indie things going on. I wouldn’t say vtubing is stagnant at all, it’s a very innovative medium and people are finding ways weekly to do something new and interesting

Since so many people are looking for alternatives to Distokid, I'll post my suggestion here. There truly is no music distributor without some drawbacks, so it might not be the solution that works for you, but it's the one I've been using since I started releasing music, which is CDBaby. Because you pay per release/album you don't need to maintain a subscription for your songs to remain up/get paid. It DOES cost more upfront, but for me knowing it will stay up, and not having to pay forever is worth it. For covers you do have to acquire a cover license yourself which isn't as hard as it seems. Though it can cost more than most would be willing to pay, but if you do buy one you don't have to pay yearly COVER FEES because you acquired your own license directly. That being said CDbaby might be better for your original music over covers. However the other companies like DK or soundrop can make it hard/impossible to access your license if you decide to move distros from what I know. And then Bandcamp everyone should use since you have full control over everything, it's free to use, and people can actually download your songs at the best quality while supporting you directly. Anyway it's unfortunate to see so many people getting screwed over by DK, if only people could just post their music themselves without the need for a distributor :/
I dislike getting upset, but genuinely have had the final straw with @DistroKid Many of my friends/clients have had their releases deleted, their earnings vanish, and not a single heads up from DK. Contacting support leads to non-answers and the exact same copy-pasted response citing a "claim from a rights owner", with no ACTUAL details that could be potentially helpful in fixing or avoiding the issue. This is genuinely how me and a lot of my friends make our earnings, and having releases just VANISH, even a few of them, can have pretty big effects on our income. It's no secret that I think a lot of distribution sites all suffer from SOME negative drawback, and there's no perfect solution to getting your music out there; DistroKid was the service I recommended to people because (at least out of the services I personally used), it was the LEAST painful in terms of just uploading something and putting it out there, and if you could make back the cost via your music, then it was good enough to deal with the hassle and just begrudgingly accept all the horrid ways it tries to monetize off an artist and nonsensical services they offered just to get something up there. I remember back maybe 7-8ish years ago when they had a similar issue of removing releases, and that was enough to move my work off their platform for a time. I had hoped that they had improved the service and eventually, work had me move back to it, and I started recommending it again because it seemed to go back to at LEAST being useable. Clearly, things haven't changed - and while it's gonna be a hassle to find a new place to migrate to, I'm done with the whole shitshow. DistroKid has had plenty of time to fix their shit, but I guess all that slop money is just too appealing. If any of my music mutuals have any recommendations, I'd be more than happy to look into them. If the service turns out to be good, I would 100% recommend it to my clients as well. It sucks that this has to be such a constant issue in the pursuit of making a living off music, but it is what it is, I suppose.

Give big support to Ram and Yam 😊 @YamAlbat @AstreaNatura
Yam 🥹 Thank you so much for always supporting me know my journey. If it weren't for your educational YouTube videos, I legitimately would not be a vtuber right now. Never could I have imagined that the crazy talented bat girl giving me beginner vtuber advice in 2021 would become one of my closest friends and managers. If I've learned anything about being a Vtuber through you is that the possibilities are endless. You've taught me the importance of patience, you've given me immeasurable confidence and most importantly you've taught me to be kinder to myself. I cannot believe that it's been nearly 3 years since we've met, as it feels like you've been my cheerleader forever. 😅 I know I can depend on you as not only a professional manager, but also as a dear friend. Thank you for being there through my darkest times and never letting me give up on my dreams. Although I'm joining a company and starting a new chapter, I feel so much reassurance that you'll still be right there by my side. My true day 1 and ride or die. I hope my words of gratitude will forever echo in your heart. Thank you and I love you so much. 💕 [For everyone else] Yam is an incredibly talented and amazing professional violist. Her knowledge about music and orchestral composition is invaluable (as seen with her collaborative efforts with Starlight Daryl and Ironmouse)! Throughout her multi-year long journey as a Vtuber herself, she understands exactly what it's like to create original content on YT and Twitch. Her extensive experience working for various corporations and organizations, both good and bad has helped her develop her own talent first approach to content creation. Additionally, her deep knowledge of the industry backend in and out is unmatched. There is very little that I feel that she can't do. From artist, to composer, project manager, musician, brand consultant, social media manager, and creative. She does it all. Please if I could ask one this of you it would be to support this little bat in any way you can. She does all of these things while battling chronic health issues. She has shown me so much strength despite everything in the world trying to dim her sparkle. She pushes through so much on the daily it's insane. She deserves so much, the least you could do is drop a follow and subscribe to her YouTube! Thank you for coming to my RamTalk! MILYA
