(1/8) 🚨Thrilled to share our new research, now published on the cover of @ScienceMagazine ! 🌳🦠 We discovered that tree #Bark — largely regarded as inert — hosts vast #Microbial communities that actively interact with the atmosphere. 🧵👇 science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…

I'm excited to share our new publication in @Nature! We showed that under Ni-limited conditions, similar to those in nature, #methanogens shift electron flow from [NiFe]- to [Fe]-hydrogenase Hmd with the help of a newly discovered protein complex, Elp. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

Scientists have uncovered a unique ecosystem at the Borealis mud volcano, a rare methane-releasing fissure in the Barents Sea. Their findings include ancient carbonate crusts formed by microbes that use methane and even extinct microorganisms.
