Alex Tuch owned the Flyers tilt with two goals and an 8-3 edge in chances from in close with him out there, a 9.0 Game Grade in a Capitals win. Dylan Strome (8.7) and Auston Matthews (8.8) did the playmaking for the Caps and Leafs. Every player, every game, graded.
Minnesota's Wild have averaged 4.7 expected goals a game over their last 10, while the Islanders sit at 3.0. Without Barzal and Romanov, New York has to keep this one low-event and hope Horvat, Schenn and Duclair make the few chances they get count.
1
Chicago is still hunting its first road win, and Detroit has generated more than it has allowed over its last 10 games, averaging 3.3 expected goals a night against 3.1 conceded. The Red Wings keep collecting points even with Larkin's trade request hanging over the club.
2
Buffalo and Anaheim have both been outchanced over their last 10, and neither defense is holding things together. Lindy Ruff still has to decide between Colten Ellis and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in net for the Sabres.
1
Ottawa has out-chanced its opponents over the last ten games, generating 3.4 expected goals for against 3.1 allowed. The Kings have been on the wrong side of that line, and the Senators arrive with the better case for a win.
1
Dallas is creating 3.2 expected goals a night over its last 10 while Montreal is matching what it allows at 3.5, so the Stars arrive with the cleaner ledger. Montreal's winning streak runs straight into a defence that is quietly doing more than it gets credit for.
1
Vancouver is generating 2.3 expected goals a night over its last 10 while allowing 4.3, a gap that has San Jose believing it can win this one at home. Canucks fans have reason to worry about the defense, but the offense is still there.
2
Washington's expected goals over its last ten games sit dead even at 3.6 for and 3.6 against, which makes the split between its home and road results hard to explain on the underlying numbers alone. Nashville keeps forcing extra time and needs to start closing games in regulation if it wants to hold that wild-card spot.
3
Utah has out-attempted opponents over its last ten, and it has done so with a road bite it is carrying straight into Pittsburgh. Holding the Mammoth in check gets much harder for a Penguins side missing Bryan Rust and several defencemen.
2
Carolina opens 10-2-2 and leads the East, while Columbus arrives on two straight overtime wins, the latest a Kent Johnson winner in Philadelphia. The Blue Jackets have to keep this one low-chance and win the tight finish again.
5
The Bruins sit on a 9-3 record, but their last 10 games have been close to even on chances. The Blues have out-generated them and still haven't turned that into wins, and home ice may be the place it finally starts to show.

Maple Leafs vs Kraken: every skater's Game Grade, sorted into tiers.
8
Toronto outshot Seattle 22-17 and still lost 5-4, because Bobrovsky stopped 12 of the shots he faced while the Kraken cashed their chances. The chances were nearly even, so the goaltending made the difference.

McKenna has both of Toronto's goals, and both came on the power play. The Kraken still lead in the third period, but the Leafs are cashing in whenever they get the man advantage.
13
MacKinnon scored in the third period, but it was his only point on two shots, well off a pace of 52 shots through 13 games. Colorado's win over New Jersey still has the Avalanche chasing a playoff spot with the pressure off.
4
Colorado controlled the puck pointed at New Jersey's net for most of the night, and the 5-2 final reflects it. Jake Allen couldn't keep pace with the pressure, and the Devils' win streak ends at the Avalanche barn.

Devils vs Avalanche: every skater's Game Grade, sorted into tiers.
6
Burns Sets Up Two as Avalanche Handle Devils 5-2. The Colorado defenceman also blocked four shots in a home win over New Jersey, which came in on a four-game winning streak.
7
With 2:45 left in the third period, the Avalanche lead the Devils 5-2 after a four-goal run that broke the game open. Colorado has dominated the play, and the shot chart reflects it.
