On the 20th of October 1984, 11-year-old Craig Bromfield and his 12-year-old brother Aaron went down to the Seaburn Hotel in Sunderland hoping to get some autographs from the Nottingham Forest players.
Aaron spotted Brian Clough walking along the seafront with some of his staff.
The boys went over and politely called him Mr Clough.
Clough took one look at them.
They had no coats on, they were freezing and Aaron had just been swimming in the sea in his pants.
Clough called them a couple of “ragtags.”
He told them they would “catch their bloody death” dressed like that, and asked if they had eaten any breakfast.
They hadn’t.
Clough took them back into the hotel and got them fed.
Then he told them they could travel to the match with Nottingham Forest on the team bus, as long as they went home first and got permission from their parents.
So Craig and Aaron ran the two miles home to Southwick, asked if they could go and ran back again.
Once they were on the bus, Clough sat at the front and told them to “bugger off” to the back, where Forest kept the chocolate, crisps and fizzy drinks.
They could help themselves.
Just don’t disturb the players.
For two boys who had grown up in and out of care, begging strangers for money and being sent out to steal, it was the best day of their lives.
Craig never got the chance to thank Clough properly, so afterwards he wrote him a letter.
Clough wrote back.
He told Craig he was pleased they had enjoyed themselves and hoped he would see them again.
At the bottom he signed it:
“Be good, Love Brian.”
Not long afterwards, Sunderland drew Nottingham Forest at Roker Park in the League Cup.
Craig and Aaron were waiting at the Seaburn Hotel before the Forest team had even arrived.
When Clough stepped off the bus, he hugged them.
Again, he decided they looked as though they needed feeding.
He told them to go inside and order whatever they wanted.
Forest returned to Sunderland again just before Christmas.
This time, Clough brought presents.
The boys were given a football signed by the Forest squad and padded jackets.
Clough hadn’t forgotten how they had looked the first morning he met them.
“Now you’ve no excuse for not bringing your coats.”
But Clough’s involvement in their lives didn’t stop with football.
One day outside the ground, Craig spotted four boys from school who had been bullying him.
Clough noticed something was wrong and asked him about it.
Craig told him.
Clough walked over to the four boys.
He gave each of them a ticket for the match.
Then he gave them a warning.
“I know who you are and I know where you all live, and I’ll come round to yer mams’. Now bugger off!”
They never bullied Craig again.
Over the next few years, Craig and Aaron became part of Clough’s family.
They stayed at his home in Derbyshire, played in the games room, went into Nigel Clough’s bedroom, travelled with Forest and were treated like little brothers by Clough’s children.
“We had been brought up to believe nobody could love us; that we were unlovable.”
“For the first time, we felt loved and special.”
When Craig was 16, his parents decided to move to London without him.
Clough told him to come and live with his family.
He went from being the 11-year-old boy outside the Seaburn Hotel without a coat to travelling to work with Brian Clough, helping out in the Forest dressing room and sitting in the dugout as they won at Wembley.
Years later, Craig was asked what his life might have looked like if he had never walked over to Brian Clough that morning in Sunderland.
“If Brian hadn’t done what he did, I wouldn’t have had a life, because I would have been in prison.”
This genuinely could be one of the worst things I’ve seen on a football pitch. Ref and his lineman were cheating cunts. Nothing to do with falling for it for it either. They know it wasn’t a foul but chose to give it. Because they are cheating scum

🚨 BURNHAM’S MAN CITY MEETINGS: SIX AND COUNTING!
Every voter in this country needs to see how often the Prime Minister met the bosses of a club found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League rules.
Andy Burnham told MPs he held just one “significant” meeting with the club’s Abu Dhabi chiefs. The Sun now reports he met City bosses at least six times as Manchester mayor.
Hidden records show private meetings with City CEO Ferran Soriano in 2023 and former chief operating officer Roel de Vries in 2025. A register of interests logging two dinners with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak was removed from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority website.
Burnham told the Commons those dinners were covered by his declaration of hospitality “on a small number of occasions” and insists the club’s case was never discussed. Kemi Badenoch said his “carefully-worded answer” will not suffice.
Meanwhile, his successor Bev Craig took a City representative on a trade trip to India organised by Labour’s Business Secretary. 💷
Sources in the UAE have reportedly warned that a harsh punishment for City could sink £30billion of UK investment. So here is the question for Labour: why are they getting so close to the owners of a club found guilty of cheating?

🚨 PART 3: THE SMOKING GUN PROVING ANDY BURNHAM LIED ABOUT HIS SECRET MAN CITY MEETINGS!
In Part 1 and Part 2 of my investigation I warned you that Andy Burnham was hiding the truth, and now his entire cover up has completely collapsed.
The Prime Minister looked the country in the eye and claimed he only ever held one single significant meeting with Abu Dhabi bosses back in 2021.
Official records have just blown that story wide open, proving Burnham met Manchester City chiefs at least six separate times.
Leaked logs show he enjoyed red carpet hospitality dinners at the Etihad Stadium with club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, alongside private sit downs with CEO Ferran Soriano.
Local authorities even quietly deleted official registers of interest that recorded his luxury visits to the exclusive Tunnel Club to keep voters completely in the dark.
While hard working taxpayers get crushed by record bills, the Prime Minister was secretly wining and dining with foreign oligarchs and then misleading the public about his cosy relationship.
Burnham did not just run political interference for a football club found guilty of over one hundred financial breaches, he actively covered up his secret dealings with their billionaire owners.
Retweet Part 3 of my investigation immediately to make this trend number one again and demand Andy Burnham answer for his deceit.

Today, I’m swallowing my pride and asking for your help to save my restaurant.
Running a restaurant is more than a business to me. It’s my passion, my livelihood, and something I’ve worked incredibly hard to build.
We’re facing one of our hardest times. Right now, @Google is accepting only 1-star fake reviews, while genuine 5-star reviews from customers are not being accepted. You can try posting a 5-star review and see for yourself. This is seriously affecting our business. With outstanding rent and our landlord threatening court proceedings, the pressure is unbearable.
I never imagined making a post like this, but sometimes you have to set pride aside and ask for help. 🙏
Please book a table at Singh’s Dining. Come enjoy our food, experience our hospitality, and see what we’re all about.
We’re proud to be a non-Halal restaurant and want to keep serving our community for years to come.
If you can’t visit, please share this post with friends and family. Every booking, share, and bit of support means more than you can imagine.
❤️ Please help us keep Singh’s Dining open. ❤️
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has supported us. We need you now more than ever.
🙏 Please book. Please share. Please help us survive.

The claim of Google conspiring against him is unsupported & appears aimed at soliciting 5star reviews. No clear evidence of review bombing exists; there are just 18 reviews across ratings. The owner’s responses to genuine customer concerns may help explain its unpopularity.

🚨 EXPOSED: ANDY BURNHAM HANDED 55 MILLION POUNDS OF TAXPAYER CASH TO MAN CITY OWNERS!
Remember when Burnham panicked on national television last month to fiercely defend Manchester City against Premier League financial cheating charges?
Now I have the official paper trail explaining exactly why he acts like a dedicated public relations agent for the United Arab Emirates!
Official records prove that during his time as mayor, Burnham personally chaired the meetings that handed 55 million pounds in taxpayer loans to Jersey based property companies ultimately controlled by Man City owner Sheikh Mansour.
This cash was drained straight out of a 300 million pound state housing fund supposedly reserved for struggling local developers.
Instead of helping British builders construct homes, Burnham rubber stamped a massive taxpayer loan for the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates!
Sheikh Mansour is one of the richest men on the planet and could secure private corporate finance in thirty seconds.
Yet Burnham gave a foreign billionaire preferential access to a public cash machine funded entirely by your hard earned wages!!!!!
Labour politicians are bleeding the domestic working class dry with brutal taxes while secretly operating a VIP fast lane for Middle Eastern royalty.
Retweet this investigation immediately to expose Andy Burnham and demand a full parliamentary inquiry into this Man City money scandal. 🇬🇧🔥
