Chicago has 3.5 million fewer people than Los Angeles… and nearly 100,000 more young homeowners. Of America’s 56 biggest metros, LA ranks dead last in homeownership under 35, behind even San Francisco and New York.

The preliminary observations at the San Pedro tide gauge reported 8.02 feet this morning, which is an all-time record (records going back to November 1923). The previous record was 7.93 feet set on 01/10/2005. Slightly higher tides are possible tomorrow.

Sunday October 25, 2026, 6:16 PM: The latest CPC, EU1, GFS, and QPF are converging on a very stormy Halloween weekend from San Luis Obispo to Orange County, possibly affecting San Diego County as well. The latest EU1 shows much higher rainfall amounts from the Hawaiian Islands trending toward our region due to a robust subtropical jet stream axis directly into Southern California especially for Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties, with the heaviest rainfall. I’m watching this developing weather situation closely. It’s more than a decade since rained of Halloween. #CAwx #Californiastorms #ElNiño

In 1886, LA hired a contractor to move LA High School several blocks northwest. Underestimating the scope of the job, the dude ran out of money and abandoned the school in the middle of Temple St. It sat there for so long, it was jacked up to allow streetcars to run under it.

Going on Monks & Merrill on KFI-640 shortly to talk about the city's fast tracked efforts to rename World War I memorial Pershing Square--and now its Metro station--after Biddy Mason, who is already honored with a great park a few blocks away. kfiam640.iheart.com/featured…

This councilwoman and LACAN are part of the problem in Skid Row. They are fiercely anti-law enforcement and focus their efforts on protecting criminals who exploit the homeless. Under their watch, gangs and thugs run Skid Row, supplying the worst drugs imaginable, stealing money, and raping or killing anyone in their way. Rather than working with LAPD to arrest drug dealers, LACAN advocates handing out millions of dollars’ worth of needles and crack pipes while harassing officers. We are proud of yesterday’s operation that charged 28 people with federal drug dealing and served more than 40 search warrants (all done professionally with judicial authorization). If the councilwoman disliked yesterday’s actions, she will be very displeased in the months ahead.
NEW: After a major Skid Row drug crackdown led to 23 arrests, LA City Councilmember @cd14losangeles, chair of the Homelessness and Health Committee, is demanding answers over reports residents are being blocked from returning to their tents and accessing belongings. “Skid Row residents deserve protection from exploitation and violence, and they deserve dignity and accountability from the institutions responsible for their safety,” Jurado says. Authorities say the operation targeted alleged drug trafficking, with fentanyl, meth, firearms, cash and vehicles seized.

NEW: “What others take as a victory lap, my constituents and I are still reeling.” LA @cd14losangeles Ysabel Jurado, chair of the Homelessness and Health Committee, spoke out after Thursday’s Skid Row drug raid, which led to 23 arrests. She says residents were left fearful, with reports of people being blocked from returning to their tents and accessing belongings.

In rider surveys, @metrolosangeles's biggest issue is onboard safety. But Metro's most powerful tool to fix that problem is barely being used. That's where we come in!
